Number worksheet 1: Guidelines for parents and guardians

Point to the figure 1 on the worksheet and practise saying the number
with your child (One). Ask your child to say the names of the items in the
worksheet. Then tell him/her to look again at the small pictures and find the
item which only appears once. Help the child find the answer (the table) and
circle the correct picture. Practise forming the figure 1 with your child.
He/She can then trace the number in the centre of the worksheet, either with
his/her finger or with a pencil. He/She can then colour the number.

Point to the figure 2 on the worksheet and practise saying the number with
your child (Two). Ask your child to say the names of the characters in the
pictures, not the animal names (Gina, Leo, Mike, Polly). Then explain that
he/she needs to find pairs of animals that are the same and colour them in
the same colour(s). Help the child point to pairs of pictures, counting aloud
(One, two). Practise forming the figure 2 with your child. He/She can then
trace the shape of the number, either with his/her finger or with a pencil.
He/She can then colour the number.

the child that he/she needs to find and circle only the sheep. Then help him/
her count the sheep aloud (there are six). You can also practise counting the
other animals together (1 rabbit, 2 dogs, 3 cats, 4 cows, 5 horses). Practise
forming the figure 6 with your child. He/She can then trace the shape of the
number, either with his/her finger or with a pencil.
