Task 1: Describe the 180° Rule in your own words.

The 180 Degree rule is a filming technique that is commonly used to film conversations. If broken
the audience can get confused on who is talking to who and where the characters are seated.

Why would you break the 180° Rule or jump the line?

Breaking the 190 Degree rule can help to shift the scenes tension and completely change the
mood. It can make a scene more dramatic by having a shot behind our character or have the
scene become more friendly by having the camera pan round to their faces
