Project: Advert on Yorkie Chocolate Bar

Minimum 25 words for each question:

• What was the brief you were set?

Our brief was to make a advert about the chocolate bar brand Yorkie. We had to make it appeal to a
new target audience.

• What research helped you approach the brief? After a lot of research looking at Yorkie adverts from
over the years, I learnt that they were heavily marketed towards Men, in most of the ads they show a
man doing a “manly” job. For example, in one it was a guy working at a truck driver and in the other
a guy was a construction worker.

• What ideas did you come up with for the group project? We came up with a couple ideas. One was
to have someone struggling to do a pull up in a gym, then they take a bite of a Yorkie bar and do it
with ease. But because this was still aimed towards men, we chose our second idea. It featured two
children playing with clay then their mum calls from off screen and they go and eat a Yorkie. This
was a better idea because it appeal to a different target audience.

• Why did you settle on the chosen idea? Because it appealed to a new target audience.

• How did you contribute to the group project? I came up with the main idea and directed the
recording process. I also edited the ad and found the sound effects.

• What problems did you encounter or what did you find tricky when making your project? One of the
scenes we recorded got deleted so I had to improvise to fix it/

• How did you overcome them? I thought about what the scene was and managed to fit it into the
scene before it quite well in my opinion.

• How did planning (pre-production) help you with this project. Pre-production planning helped a lot
because we came up with multiple ideas and settled on the one we like the most. This was good
because it gave us the option to look at multiple ideas and decide which one worked best.

• Are your narrative intentions clear to the audience? I would say they are decent. Its not as clear as I
would like but I still think it works well and appeals to younger ages well.

• Does your finished project meet the brief effectively? Yes, I think it does. It appeals to a new target
audience without changing the actual product.
