Letter of Suggested use of Funds for Town Development

Thank you for inviting the town’s Go Global Association to submit this letter of recommendations
for the use of new available funds for the ecological and economical improvement of our
beautiful town. At our last meeting we discussed this opportunity at length and propose the
following:

1. In view of the hardships placed on our populace by the closing of the town’s main
employer, the Chemical plant, I suggest that the renovation of our medieval sector would
provide a double benefit for our town. First it would beautify and preserve the area.
Second, with a good campaign, it would attract tourism and significant revenue for
residents.
2. Keeping in mind the town’s ownership of wild lands encompassing river scenery and
mountains; we at GGA suggest that part of this wild area be refined to further enhance
revenue and tourism. After a study of the ecological impact to these lands by this use,
we found that 5 small camping cabins could be set up and advertised as fishing and
hiking tourism. The mountain area could ecologically support and maintain 3 camp
grounds as well as create and maintain hiking paths.
3. Part of the funding can be set aside to clean up the Chemical plant including the removal
of toxic waste. We suggest that at least part of the plant be renovated and used as a
luxury hotel for no more than 25 guests. Again, we want to balance the management of
the ecology to keep our town and surrounding lands healthy for both residents and
visitors.
4. At every stage of development and improvement, both available funding, and generated
revenue should be used to reduce the carbon footprint. Solar and wind energy should be
used. Factored in the funding are safe treatment of and disposal of waste. Part of the
draw for visitors can be the pristine environment; clean water, clean air, locally grown
and raised vegetables and cattle for meat. Any establishments providing nourishment
should use age old recipes for the locally and economically grown and raised produce.
