Prayer of Confession Rev. George Haugen

Merciful Loving God, your commands to us are clear. We are called to love, and live as your humble
servants. You desire to use us as instruments of your compassion, but we are often hard hearted and
stiff necked. You invite us to know you and walk with you intimately. We refuse your invitation, and
make ourselves busy with what we consider to be more important. Have mercy on us O God,
according to your steadfast love. According to your abundant mercy, blot out our
transgressions. Restore in us the joy of your salvation for the glory of your Son Jesus. (Please continue
in silent confession) In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Leader: If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is
faithful and just, and will forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
People: We trust in Jesus, and we have confessed our sins to God. Therefore, we know that in Christ we are
cleansed from all unrighteousness, and together we joyfully say, “We are
forgiven! Alleluia! Amen!”
