Did you know someone who changed their name after coming to a

foreign country because it had an embarrassing local meaning?

There was this lady who needed to hire a new chauffeur for her Rolls
Royce.

A young man applied and had to drive the lady so that she could check
his way with the car.

While getting into the car she said to the aspirant driver “young man, I
always address the personnel by their surname. What are you called.”

The young man answered “my name is John Dear, my lady”. “Very well
John, drive me to the hairdresser” was the reply.

Now a story that really happened in the Netherlands.

In my student years I had a job interviewing people in the streets.

One time we had to ask people which name they liked for a new car.

The final name that was slected by the interviewees and by the
customer was “Pajero”.
In Spain thet gave it another name because Pajero means wanker or
jerk-off in Spanish.

But in the Netherlands the name Pajero was used!
