This course orients the students with the science and practice of the Pharmacy profession. Focuses on
the history, regulations, and practice of pharmacy and the roles of pharmacists in handling medications
and in health care.
• This course is an introduction to the scientific study of plants and their value as an integral part of
ecosystem and the pharmaceutical field. It focuses on the understanding of plant morphology, anatomy,
physiology, taxonomy, and distinct features of plant species of pharmaceutical importance.
• The course deals with the theories and principles in pharmacy calculation as applied in traditional and
specialized practice settings and within operational and research areas in pharmacy practice. This course
focuses on the fundamentals of pharmaceutical calculations and techniques that includes system of
measurements, expression of concentrations, calculation of doses, density, specific gravity and specific
volume applied in the practice of pharmacy.
• This course covers pharmaceutical inorganic chemistry, an area of study concerned with essential and
non-essential elements, metal ions, metal complexes and radiopharmaceuticals with their clinical
applications. The course highlights the fundamental knowledge and concepts of pharmaceutical
inorganic chemistry on those official with USP/NF, their preparation, properties, tests, uses and
applications to diagnosis and therapy. The laboratory course includes the principles and concepts for
qualitative analysis of ions & inorganic compounds and the preparation, uses and confirmatory tests
involved in the official USP/NF inorganic compounds.
