In our course you heard about the process of proving your capability and capacity on a BIM Project.

What this means is effectively proving that you have skills and people to deliver on what the client is
asking for. Some clients all over the world have included some of these considerations during
procurement but this is not widely implemented and therefore it is recommended that a client or
appointing party implement some of these principles to avoid risks.

During Procurement we mentioned the use of PAS 91. PAS 91 is the prequalification questionnaires
used in the context of the UK to support the creation of a shortlist of tenderers who can then submit
their proposals on a project. Many clients would have some form of prequalification process in place
and therefore it is imperative that this is considered across a project. BIM questions within the PAS
91 Clause 4.2 Table 8 include;

1. The use of a Common Data Environment, experience and proof in doing so.
2. The documented policies, systems and procedures to prove you have worked on a BIM
Project in line with your governments requirements.
3. The use of a BIM Execution Plan and showing an example of one.
4. Training for your employees for BIM and what you have in place.

The second line of proving your capability would be on a project and during the tender process.
Previous examples of doing so are documented within the British Standard PAS 1192-2 in the form of
a Supply Chain Capability Form. The Supply chain capability forms were created to support the UK
BIM policy and are found at this link :
