Topic of the Presentation - No Hunger

Three things I learned from the speaker-

1. The reality of hunger in slums and other places.

2. More about the vicious cycle of hunger.
3. The mantra – Eat, Save, Repeat.

One thing I would like to learn more about after I hear the speaker

I would like to know more about how working in an NGO is like.

Summary of the talk in my words-

● There are people out there in slums where they have to go to bed hungry each day.
● The 3 options for those people are- Beg, Borrow or Steal
● The difference between voluntarily not eating and having no choice.
● Current estimates show that 690 million people/or 8.9 % of the world’s population is hungry.
● Nearly 2 million people have died in the world because of hunger.
● In 2015 the United Nations General Assembly came off with 17 Global goals. According to them if
these goals are followed in hierarchy then we may see sustainable changes.
● The real problem is not that there isn’t enough food, the problem is that the food is not being
divided properly.
● When people are undernourished or malnourished, they are physically and mentally weak.
● The slum people are so used to being in that zone that they don't even want to grow from
there.
● Every single bite in a plate is important and many people don't even get to eat that.
