• Worked in Columbia ASL Department as ASL Tutor January 2018 to May 2019.
• Supported interactive learning by facilitating individual and group sessions to review
class content.
• Served as a liaison between the Deaf and hearing worlds by answering questions about
Deaf culture and ASL linguistics.

Teacher Aide Center on Deafness


• Employed as teacher aide from November 2015 to December 2016 at an alternative
program for Deaf-plus students ranging from elementary to high school age.
• Supervised lessons, graded homework, designed recreational activities, and assisted with
transporting students to and from various locations.
• Participated in weekly staff meetings and wrote daily reports summarizing the day’s
events for next shift of staffers.

AmeriCorps Sign Language Teacher NMSD


• Taught ASL from September 2014 to August 2015 in southeastern part of New Mexico
as a representative of collaboration between New Mexico School for the Deaf and
AmeriCorps.
• Fostered outreach by hosting events, developing specialized curriculum, and making
home visits.
• Employed strong communication skills by filling out monthly paperwork, maintaining
ties with the community, and cultivating connections.

Aide at Swartz School SASED
• Worked as an aide in a Deaf/Hard of Hearing summer school program from June to July
2009. I was assigned to a classroom composed of third graders.
• Helped with homework assignments, supervised lunch and recreational activities.
• Provided the students with an appropriate ASL language model by making myself
available for dialogue.

Aide at Fairwood Preschool SASED


• Employed as a special needs aide from March to December 2008 at Fairwood Preschool
in Lombard, Illinois.
• Assigned as a 1:1 aide for DeafPlus student with CHARGE’S Syndrome and had vision
limitations.
• Assisted with eating/bathroom tasks and supervised recreational activities.

summer of 2019.
• Took part of a holiday themed ASL book reading that made popular books accessible for
Deaf kids winter 2018.

• Filled out an application and underwent two rounds of interviews to be selected by a
panel of Columbia faculty to represent my fellow graduating students at Commencement.
• Made history as first Deaf commencement speaker at Columbia College.

Gilman Scholar 2018.


• Applied for the Benjamin Gilman scholarship, a federal program that provides financial
assistance for studying abroad.
• Wrote an essay explaining why I qualified and was chosen by the program’s
administrative heads to be one of the recipients that year.
• Created a video in American Sign Language detailing the educational, cultural, and
linguistic content I absorbed about the Italian Deaf community during my time in Siena.

Miss Deaf Illinois 2007-2009.


• Voted Miss Deaf Illinois by a panel consisting of four judges.
• Made appearances at Deaf events, such as the Deaf Nation event at Harper College. Gave
presentations, and acted as goodwill ambassador for the Deaf community in Illinois.
• Represented Illinois at National Association of the Deaf conference in New Orleans,
Louisiana in 2008.

Homecoming Queen 2006.


• Voted Homecoming Queen out of nine girls by my peers and educational staff at
Hinsdale South High School.
• Nominated by my grade and then was elected Homecoming Queen by entire student body
at South.
• Returned the next year to crown the new Queen.
