A Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in Advance Chemistry

(Grade 10 STE, 3:30-4:30pm)
Submitted Date: December 3, 2018
Delivery Date: December 3, 2018
Time Frame: 60minutes

I. Objectives

A. Learning Competencies
Given several exercises, the Grade 10 students are expected to do the following
with 85% proficiency:
a.) state the ideal gas law;
b.) apply the ideal gas law in problem solving; and
c.) recognize the practical applications of ideal gas equation to our daily lives.

II. Content and Materials

A. Topic: Gases
Subtopic: Ideal Gas Law

B. References:
1.) Mendoza & Religioso, Chemistry,182-185, Phoenix Publishing House
Inc., Quezon City, 1990
C. Instructional Materials:
 Laptop, LCD Projector, and chalk

III. Procedure
A. Review

 The teacher will ask the students regarding the previous topic (Combined
Gas Law and Gay-Lussac’s Law). If the students do not recall the lesson,
the teacher will give them verbal cues to help the students remember.

B. Motivation

 The students will watch a short film of Goalcast – a famous YouTube

channel that spreads positive vibes regarding “Being Self-Contented”.

C. Presentation

 After the short film, the teacher will now discuss “Ideal Gas Law”
thoroughly through a PowerPoint presentation and a chalk talk.
 Guide Questions:
1. How do we apply the ideal gas equation in problem solving?
2. What are the different practical applications of Ideal Gas Law to our
society?

D. Application

 After the discussion, the students will have a group drill. The mechanics of
the drill are the following:
a.) A total of 5 questions will be given.
a.) Each member of the group will answer on their respective seats.
b.) Each student will be given 1-minute and 30-seconds to answer.

E. Generalization

 After the drill, the group that garnered the highest number of score will
generalize the lesson of the day.

IV. Evaluation

In their quiz notebook, the students will answer the following questions:
1. At what temperature will 0.654 mol of neon gas occupy 12.30 L at 1.95 atm?
Answer: 447 K

2. 0.127 mol of solid CO2 is put in an empty sealed 4.00 L container at a

temperature of 300 K. When all the solid CO2 become gas, what will be the
pressure in the container?
Answer: 0.7831 atm
V. Agreement

Research about Real Gases.
