Complicated Podcast Episode 2 Script

Audio quickly fades in, NATHAN begins talking.

NATHAN: Hello everyone and welcome back to a new episode

of Complicated, I’m your host, Nathan Pearson, and once
again we are joined by Adam Hussain!

ADAM introduces himself.

NATHAN: So in today’s episode we are going to be talking

about cars and how they influence young peoples lives.

NATHAN: So Adam I understand you’re a big car fan, what

appeals to you about cars?

ADAM speaks

NATHAN: I can appreciate someone who puts thousands of

hours into their car. And all you can do is applaud them
because that’s some dedication.

NATHAN: I’m guessing you’ve watched classic car films?

ADAM speaks

NATHAN: One of my favourite films is Fast And Furious

Tokyo Drift. And one could argue that the cars are more
of the stars in the films than the actors themselves.
Such as the Orange Toyota Supra that Paul Walker drives
in the first film. I feel like those cars truly shaped a
whole new generation of car fans.

NATHAN: Everyone can at least say they get some

excitement out of driving fast right?
ADAM speaks

NATHAN: My car is cheap to run and maintain, and it’s a

lot of fun. Which I feel is extremely important with
driving. I feel like once you pass your driving test you
unlock the world in a sense. In the sense that you can go
anywhere you want. You don’t have to rely on public
transport with delays and things like that. It’s so
exciting especially as a young driver. You’ve literally
got a box on wheels that can get you anywhere!

NATHAN: So what do you think about the illegal side of

cars? Such as street races and car theft etc.

ADAM speaks

NATHAN: Street races have always been frowned upon. Even

if you accelerate you can get pulled over. Obviously
there are the dangers that come with that, but if it was
like the middle of the night, and there were no cars in
sight, and you were on a big stretch of road, surely that
should be okay if you can open your car up a little
right?

ADAM speaks

NATHAN: There’s nothing wrong with opening your car up a

little bit sometimes, like for example if you had a
Lamborghini, what’s wrong with driving it fast when
there’s no one around?

NATHAN: I’m not endorsing criminal activity, it’s just it

should be more laid back with speed limit laws. Like for
example there’s a motorway in Germany called the
Autobahn, it’s one of the largest motorways in Europe,
and there is not speed limit in certain sections of it.
There is a similar thing on the Isle of Man. You can
literally drive to Germany, and you can go as fast as you
want. Maybe the UK should take notes as a lot of
motorways are terrible in this country. England isn’t a
very car friendly place is it?

ADAM speaks

NATHAN: Did you know that by 2030 all petrol and diesel
cars will be banned by 2030? It’s just going to eliminate
the cool factor of cars and the passion of being a petrol
head.

NATHAN: Well anyways, that’s all we have time for today.

I’ve been your host Nathan Pearson and thank you very
much for listening. Goodbye.
