External Examination, 2020

Subject: EDRG 102 Max. Marks: 20 Duration: 5 hrs.

Instructions:

1. Each sheet should contain your name and roll no (simply hand written) written with a pen or ball
point pen. (No pencil).
2. The act of copying or submitting the same sheet done by others is a disgraceful act. If found
doing so, both the students: one who copied and the one who helped in copying would be
awarded zero. Please note that any excuses made will not be entertained.
3. You must submit your answer sheet within the given time in the classroom (like the one you did
for your assignment).
4. Follow the instructions if any provided with the questions carefully. Violating the instructions
will not award you any marks.
5. Choose suitable scale if needed.
6. All questions carry equal marks.
7. Use of formula sheet is allowed.
8. It is not mandatory to draw title box.

Attempt ALL questions.

Q. 1. Draw the two views (top view not needed) of a threaded hexagonal bolt with diameter D with
hexagonal nut. The end of the bolt is chamfered at 300. Show bolt head and nut across the corner.
Assume any suitable D. Show the dimensions in terms of empirical relation (like D, 2D, 0.75D,
…) and NOT in terms of measurement like “mm”. Indicate the formula used in the sheet. Take
thread length as 2D. Take radius of chamfer arc R = 1.5D.

Q. 2. Draw sectional front view and top view for single riveted double cover chain butt joint to join
plate of thickness 10 mm. Calculate all the parameters required to draw the rivet in the sheet
using empirical relations. Show the dimensions in terms of empirical relation (like p for pitch, t
for thickness, …) and NOT in terms of measurement like “mm”.
Q. 3. Draw front view, top view and side view of the following figure shown. Choose cautiously the
side view to be drawn. Choosing incorrect side view will not award you any marks. Assume
suitably if any data is missing. Follow first angle of projection.

Q. 4. From the following projection, develop an isometric drawing. Indicate with an arrow the direction
to see front view. It is not necessary to show the dimensions.
