CE 111: Engineering Drawing

Tutorial 2

Maximum Marks: 80
Instructions for Students

 Read the questions carefully before answering

 Drawing should be only on one side of the page.
 All students should bring their own drawing equipment and drawing book/sheet.
 Numbers in the parenthesis at the end of each question indicate Maximum Marks.
 All dimensions are in mm. (unless specified otherwise)
 Solution of each question should be demarked by thick continuous lines
 All sheets should have border lines, title box

Draw the borderlines as per the specification given in the theory class. Use the correct type of pencil
judiciously. Draw the title box as explained in the theory class on the first tutorial sheet as per the
dimensions stated. Write all the relevant information (name, roll number, date etc.) in the title box
using the correct type of pencil. All the other supplementary sheets should have border lines.

Questions

1. Draw the following types of lines as explained in the theory class? (8)
a) Continuous thick line of size 50
b) Continuous thin line of size 50
c) Dashed thick line of size 50
d) Chain thin line of size 50
All these lines should be spaced 20 mm apart and parallel to each other. These lines should be
inclined at 45degree to the horizontal. Create a mirror image of the same showing the position of
the mirror which is placed vertically. The mirror should be shown using light continuous line. All
dimensions should be shown correctly.

2. A three dimensional object and its top view and front view are given in the figure below. Recreate
the top view and the front view and dimension it accordingly. All dimensions should be shown
properly. One should be consistent in choosing the dimensioning style throughout. Dimensions in
this questions are in cm. Missing dimensions may be provided by the tutor. (12)
3. A rectangle of sides 35mm X 55mm is given. Draw a square whose area is same as that of the given
rectangle. (5)
4. Divide a line segment of length 77mm into 9 equal parts. (5)
5. Draw a line parallel to a given line segment of 50mm at a distance of 33mm. Draw a circle such that
both these lines are tangent to the circle. (5)
6. Draw an angle of 60 degree and divide it into four equal parts. (5)
7. Draw a triangle of sides 60mm, 75mm and 50mm. Draw an in-circle in the triangle. Also draw a
circum-circle of the triangle. (10)
8. Draw a pentagon of side 30mm by method of circles. (10)
9. Draw a heptagon in a circle of diameter 130mm. (10)
10. Draw a hexagon and a nonagon of side 35mm. (10)
