2. Compose a 2 paragraph reflection on the importance of journalism in the
society and its contribution to nation building.

Answer:

Primarily, the purpose of Journalism is to ensure a well-informed citizenry for our

social structure. It somehow binds the people in different institutions within a
free society where everyone has the right to know what is happening in their
environment. Its role is to provide accurate and reliable information that is direct
and easily understood. Without Journalism, it would be impossible for people to
grasp valid details. Also, the absence of journalism in a particular society would
cause tragedy. We all know that words can easily be manipulated. An example of
this is social media, millions of posted information, but we hardly identify its
reliability and validity. As long as one can talk and write, there are higher chances
that misleading information would exist. If this happens, people would doubt
whether to believe or not. It would be best if there are professional journalists to
whom people can give their trust.

Secondarily, Journalism contributes to nation-building. For me, I consider

Journalism as one of the foundations of a country. For the reason that it bridges
people to connect. The visibility of being connected within a nation is essential.
Journalism provides an impact on how citizens in a country develop
understanding and unity with one another. It is impossible to build a strong
nation without unifying. Also, in any democratic country, journalism plays a vital
role in creating, molding, and reflecting public opinion. It serves as a bridge
between the government and the people. One wrong information would cause
divisibility of the people of a nation. I think becoming a journalist is both an honor
and big responsibility. Through Journalism, they can unify and build a nation, and
at the same time, they need to be truthful and fair to what information they are
going to disseminate.
