Solve the following problems below.

Mr. Soliman is looking for a job. After applying for the companies where his expertise can be applied
and at the same time be improved, he finally has these two options to choose.

Job A: Starting Salary: P3000 Job B: Starting Salary: P2500

Annual Increase: P500 Annual Increase: P600

1. At the end of 10 years, which job has the greater annual salary? Complete the table.

Number of Annual Salary (in Pesos)

Years Job A Job B
0 P3000 P2500
1 [(3000*12)+(500*1)]=P36500 [(2500*12)+(600*1)]= 30,600
2 [(3000*24)+500*2)]= P73000 [(2500*24)+(600*2)]= 61,200
3 [(3000*36)+500*3)]=109,500 [(2500*36)+(600*3)]= 91,800
4 [(3000*48)+500*4)]=146,000 [(2500*48)+(600*4)]= 122,400
5 [(3000*60)+500*5)]= 182,500 [(2500*60)+(600*5)]= 153,000
6 [(3000*72)+500*6)]= 219,000 [(2500*72)+(600*6)]= 183,600
7 [(3000*84)+500*7)]= 255,500 [(2500*84)+(600*7)]= 214,200
8 [(3000*96)+(500*8)]= 292,000 [(2500*96)+(600*8)]= 244,800
9 [(3000*108)+(500*9)]= 328,500 [(2500*108)+(600*9)]= 275,400
10 [(3000*120)+(500*10)]= 365,000 [(2500*120)+(600*10)]= 306,000

2. Write an equation relating the annual salary for each job. Graph the two equations on the same plane. Use
the ordered pairs (years, salary).

Let x=years greater than or equal to 12

y=salary based on number of months

Equation for Job A: [(3000*m)+(500*y)] = c

Equation for Job B: [(2500*m)+(600*y)] = c

Job A Salary Column2

Do they intersect? What does this mean?

No they do not intersect however the lines are going closely to one another. This means that Job A and Job B
salaries are not equal in any way nor do they fluctuate which can cause them to intersect.
3. Find the accumulated income for each job after 10 years.

Accumulated income for Job A: P1,985,000 Accumulated income for Job B: 1,656,000

4. Create a new Job C such that it has a starting salary lesser than either Job A or Job B but an annual
increase more than either Job A or Job B. Write an equation for the job you have created.

Job C: Starting Salary: P2,000 Equation for Job C: [(2000*m)+(1000*y] = c

Annual Increase: 1000 ,

5. Which is the “best” job after 10 years? Explain.

Between Job A and B, the best job would be Job A. This is because tha starting salary is high and the annual
increase is not bad too. Basing on the solutions, it can be said that Job A has more income than job B
throughout the years.
