communities in teaching young children valuable lessons. For example, in Korean Cinderella, we see
the father using the word ‘Aigo’, which is a Korean slang to express exasperation.

2. The dresses that are descried in all 3 stories are not similar to the traditional story in which
Cinderella wears a ball gown and is gifted glass slippers; In Korean Cinderella, Ewha wears Silk
slippers while the Rough Face girl wears moccasins. In Mufaro’s Beautiful daughters, Nyoka is not
mentioned wearing shoes, but instead she will wear a woven dress for her wedding to the price, as
per African Wedding customs.

stepsisters. In Korean Cinderella, Pear Blossom has 1 stepmother and 1 stepsister; in rough face girl ,
Oochigeaskw has 2 stepsisters but no stepmother; in Mufaro’s beautiful daughters, Manyara and
Nyasha were instead real sisters.
