a-Language is: a system of arbitrary vocal symbols used for human
communication. ( 01 p) b- Another definition of language is: a system of sub-systems . 1- Phonology: the sound system of a language : -Phoneme: the smallest unit of sound that can distinguish meaning. 2- Morphology: the study of the structure of words . -Morpheme: the smallest unit of language has either meaning or grammatical function . 3-Syntax: the study of the structure of sentences. 4- Semantics : the study of meaning .
