Antonio Pigafetta, is a Famous Italian Traveler.

He was born in Vicenza around

1480. He was also died in the same city in 1534.

Antonio Pigafetta together with the famous traveler Ferdinand Magellan around
1519-1522 they travel around the world and discover the circumnavigate of the world.
They use the famous five ships which are Trinidad, Conception, San Antonio, Victoria
and Santiago.

They first landed at Ladrones Island, presently knowns as the Marianas Island.
The travelers sighted three islands on March 6, 1521 or March 17. Ten days after they
reached Isle of Zamal, now Samar. Pigafetta recounted after two days, March 18, nine
men came to them and showed joy and eagerness seeing them. People in our country how
we welcome foreigners or visitors in our place and how to treat them. Pigafetta
characterized people as friendly.

Next, they went to Humunu Island or well known as Homono and they found what
Pigafetta referred Watering Place of Good Signs. They named it because they found the
first sign of gold in the island. They left the island on March 25 at the same year.
 
Pigafetta recounted that they saw two ballanghai which is a long boat full of
people in Mazzava or Mazaua. On March 31, 1521, which happened the First mass in the
Philippines. Limasawa (6605) is dubbed as the birth of Roman Catholicism in our
country. We called this island now a Limasawa which means King Raia has 5 wives. It
officially became municipality on August 27, 1989. The R.A. no. 7782 declaring
Limasawa as o tourist zone in 1994. 

After 7 days, Magellan and his men decided to move and look for islands of
Ceylon (Leyte), Bohol and Zzubu (Cebu). By April 7 the same year, they reached the port
of Cebu. The blood compact was happened and they said that is an ancient rituals in the
Philippines. They do it to seal the friendship that they have. 

On April 26, the battle was began between Lapu Lapu and Magellan.

Because of those people, we can't discover how beautiful our country. By the help
of them the Philippines was known as on the beautiful country because of how we,
people treated our visitors. They discovered that filipinos are hospitable and that is what
they characterized us now.
