5 Way Manifold Valve
5 Way Manifold Valve
1. Introduction
Using DP flow meters is wide, as known, every DP (Differential pressure) flow meter is consisting of
two main components, which are:
i. Sensing device
ii. Scanner or computing device ( transmitter)
The sensor responsible for sending the signal to the scanner, then the scanner processes the signal
and does some calculations and displays the result.
This scanner often needs calibration or maintenance, so, if the scanner is installed directly on the
sensing device, the pipe line should be shut to remove this scanner.
Another part solved this problem is installed between these two parts is the Manifold valve
This report is concerned with the five-way manifold type, but firstly, a brief overview of the types
of this manifolds valves.
2. Definition
What is the Manifold valve?
The same application like the single block valve, only the
difference in replacing the screw with vent valve in order
to be capable of venting, draining & calibration.
a) Construction
There are three types of valves involved in that type but it is only one compact part.
In order to understand the types a brief illustrating of each type separately will be held but it
doesn`t mean that it consists of three parts, they are all compact in one part.
So, it Is clear that any valve that blocks the fluid is called block or isolating valves
despite its construction.
2) Vent valve
3) Equalizing valve
b) Normal operation
During the Normal operation, the pressure lines are open and the
equalizers & the vent are closed as shown
c) Installing steps
In order to install the valve, 5 main steps should be done respectively:
5. Conclusion
The Five-way manifold valve is very important for DP flow meters devices to enable the operator
Isolating, Venting & calibrating in custody transfer processes.
According to the conditions of the system, it is easy to select the most suitable type of the manifold
valves.
