the previous session:
Learning Objectives 1. Distinguish validity and reliability.
2. Discuss methods establishing validity and reliability of classroom
assessments.
3. Revise the First Quarter Assessment based on the validity and
the reliability measures.
Key Concepts:  Assessment refers to the activities undertaken by the
teachers and by their students in assessing themselves,
which provide information to be used as feedback to modify
the teaching and learning activities in which they are
engaged.
 Validity refers to the degree to which evidence and theory
support the interpretations of test scores entailed by
proposed uses of tests
 Reliability refers to the consistency of measures when the
testing procedure is repeated on a population of individuals
or groups.

Introduction: The quality of educational Slide Decks 1-3 30 min
decisions is only as good as

them. If inappropriate Sheets
information is collected or of

precision, the decisions that
follow will logically be
inaccurate. Two key
characteristics of all
assessments are validity and
reliability.

Teachers need to ensure

that assessment tools
administered to students are
evaluated as to evidences of
validity and reliability.
