Question # 02;
Describe mouse and explain what does the term
dragging mean and how do you do it?

Answer:
Mouse
It is a hand- held device which is used to directly
interact with a graphical user interface. It is done by
controlling the pointer or cursor on the screen of a
computer. With the help of a mouse the user can
select or drag objects.

Dragging
Dragging means to select objects from the display
screen and moving them. It means to move one object
from here to there.
How do you do it?
To drag an icon the user is to move the pointer on top
of that object with the help of a mouse. Then the user

is to press and hold down the left mouse button and
move the object to the other location. This is how you
can drag objects in your computer.

Question # 03;
Explain how a barcode reader reads a barcode and
what it does with the information from a bar?
Answer:
Barcode reader
A barcode reader is considered as an optical scanner.
It decodes the data stored in the barcode and then it
sends that data to the computer. The barcode reader
has a light sensor which translates the barcode into
electrical signals.
The first six numbers of a barcode are the identification
numbers of the manufactures. The next five numbers
are the items number. The last number determines if
the bar code was scanned correctly. The barcode
reader further sends the information to the computer.

Question # 04;

5
Enlist and explain the four parts of a complete
computer system.
Answer:
The four parts of a complete computer system are;
1. Hardware
2. Software
3. Data
4. User
Hardware
Hardware are the physical parts of the computer which
can be seen, touched and felt. Input is given through
hardware components.
Examples;
1. Mouse
2. Keyboard
3. Speakers
Software
Software is a set of instructions given to the computer
to execute specific tasks. Software can be seen but not
touched.
Examples;
1. Applications

2. Microsoft word
Data
Raw facts and figures are called data. Data are the
characteristics that are collected through observations.
User
A user is a person who utilizes the computer. A user is
the one who performs specific tasks on the computer.
The user can be anyone who knows about the
computer.

DVORAK keyboard
DVORAK is a keyboard layout. It was given by August
Dvorak and William Dealey. IT was faster than QWERTY
layout. It reduces errors and increases typing speed. It
is also more comfortable then QWERTY.
Overview
It was designed with the belief that it would increase
typing speed. Many of its letter combinations were in
awkward motion. Some combination of letters were
typed with one finger. Most of the typing was done
with the left hand.

7
History
It is an input device which was designed in the 1930s.
This type of keyboard was made because people found
deficiencies in the QWERTY keyboard.
Many variations of DVORAK came in the first 50 years
of its use. Which included versions which were for the
people who had only one hand. Its current layout was
standardized in 1982 by ANSI. It still could not replace
the QWERTY keyboard.
Benefits
The DVORAK keyboard was use full in many ways. It
was easier to use. It required less finger motion. It
reduces errors. The most important benefit was that it
reduces repetitive strain injuries.
