Gäyatré Mantra

1. oà bhür bhuvaù svaù tat savitur vareëyam bhargo devasya dhémahi dhiyo yo naù
pracodayät
om--O Lord Hari; bhüù--the planetary system; bhuvaù--the next planetary system; svaù--the
heavenly planets; tat--that; savitur--of the sun; vareëyam--worshipable; bhargaù--effulgence;
devasya--of the divine; dhîmahi--let us meditate; dhiyaù-meditation; yaù--who; naù--us;
pracodayät--enthuses.
Let us meditate on that worshipable effulgence of the divine sun. May he enthuse our
meditation.

2. aià gurave namaù


aià--(the word 'aià' is the seed-sound vibration of this mantra); gurave--unto my spiritual
master; namaù--respectful obeisances.
I offer my respectful obeisances unto my spiritual master.

3. aià gurudeväya vidmahe kåñëänandäya dhémahi tan no guruù pracodayät


gurudeväya--unto the spiritual master; vidmahe--try to know; kåñëa-änandäya--who is always in
blissful Kåñëä consciousness; dhémahi--let us meditate; tat--that; naù--us; guruù--the spiritual
master; pracodayät--enthuses.
Let us try to understand our spiritual master who is always in blissful Kåñëä consciousness.
Let us meditate on him being enthused as he enthuses us.

4. kléà gauräya namaù


klîà--(the word 'klîà' is the seed-sound vibration of this mantra); gauräya--unto Lord Caitanya;
namaù--respectful obeisances.
I offer my respectful obeisances unto Lord Caitanya.

5. kléà caitanyäya vidmahe viçvambharäya dhémahi tan no gauraù pracodayät


caitanyäya--unto Lord Caitanya; vidmahe--try to know; viçvambharäya-- who is the maintainer of
the universe; dhîmahi--let us meditate; tat--that; naù--us; gauraù--Lord Caitanya; pracodayät—
may He enthuse.
Let us meditate on Lord Caitanya, the Maintainer of the universe. May He enthuse us to do so.

6. kléà kåñëäya govindäya gopé-jana--vallabhäya svähä


kåñëäya--unto Lord Kåñëä; govindäya--unto Govinda; gopé-jana--of the gopés; vallabhäya--unto
the lovers of the gopés; svähä--offerings of oblations.
I offer oblations unto Lord Kåñëä, Who is Govinda, the Lover of the gopés.

7. kléà käma-deväya vidmahe puñpa-bäëäya dhémahi tan no 'naìgaù pracodayät


kämadeväya--unto the master of the senses vidmahe--try to know; puñpa-bänäya--carrying
arrows of flowers; dhémahi--let us meditate; tat--that; naù--us; anaìgaù--the transcendental
Cupid; pracodayät--enthuses.
Let us meditate on the Master of the senses, Who carries the arrows of flowers. May He as the
transcendental Cupid enthuse us.
