1. Main purpose of Software V4.2.2.3 SP1

The LIAISON® XL Software V4.2.2.3 SP1 is intended to introduce new features as well as bug
fixing.
In particular, the new features originate from the continuous feedback received by our
Customers and Colleagues worldwide. A dedicated prioritization allowed us to define the
requirements for the present list. The present document lists the most relevant changes, that
may be of interest for LIAISON® XL users.
DiaSorin would like to thank everybody who contributed to the requirement collection, and
encourages all LIAISON® XL users to keep on providing observations and suggestions to
make LIAISON® XL a better device.

The changes are listed in comparison to V4.2.2.2

3. Compatibility
3.1. Systems
The LIAISON® XL software V4.2.2.3 SP1 is compatible with all LIAISON® XL and LIAISON®
XL LAS systems. For the sake of brevity, the system may be referred to as LIAISON® XL,
even in this case the usage shall be intended to apply to the LIAISON® XL LAS as well.

3.2. Assay protocols

The LIAISON® XL software V4.2.2.3 SP1 is compatible with all LIAISON® XL assay protocols
currently released.

4. New features and improvements

4.1. New Special Characters
Summary: Software V4.2.2.3 SP1 supports “;”, “<space>”, “/” as SID characters, extending
the set of characters accepted by the system.

Previous situation (V4.2.2.2)

Previous SW Versions do not support “;”, “<space>”, “/” as SID characters.

Update (V4.2.2.3 SP1)

SW Version 4.2.2.3 SP1 allows to use the special characters “;”, “<space>”, “/” in SIDs.

Configuration
The support of slash (/) as SID character requires the intervention of field service authorized
representative. Please contact your local DiaSorin representatives to enable it.

Important notes

!  Like the other special (not alphanumerical) characters already handled by the system
(i.e. Minus, dot, dollar sign, plus, percent sign, number sign, ampersand, and equal),
the new ones are ignored by Search and Sort functionalities.
Example1:
SID named “SAMPLE01” is present among the results.
Searching the string “/SAMPLE01” would actually find “SAMPLE01”
 The space “ “ character shall not be used as the first or the last character of a SID.
The system does not allow such SID.
Example:
The SID “SAMPLE 01” is allowed while “ SAMPLE01” is not accepted (mind the space
as initial character).
 The special string “02/A” shall be avoided and not included in any SID. It would cause
the entire rack to be discarded when specific conditions apply.
Example:
the SID “02/ASAMPLE 01” shall not be used.

4.2. New Backup Type “IoT”

Summary: The page System>Backups now include the option to produce the Backup Type
“IoT” containing relevant information to support troubleshooting activities related to the IoT.

Previous situation (V4.2.2.2)

No backup option dedicated to IoT logs is available.

Update (V4.2.2.3 SP1)

The picklist “New Backup” in the page System>Backups contain the backup type “IoT”.

5. New Manuals and SW translations, update of

Virus Scan and OS cybersecurity
5.1. Manuals and Software translations and virus update
Summary: User Manual are updated, translated (together with the Software) in the usual
languages. Also the antivirus configuration is updated.

Previous situation (V4.2.2.2)

With Software V4.2.2.2, the User Manual and Quick Guide are tailored to the existing
features, and translated to a number of languages. The Software is translated also.
Update (V4.2.2.3 SP1)
Software V4.2.2.3 SP1 includes a version of User Manual updated to the latest features.
The available User Software Languages and User Manual and Quick Guide revisions are
reported in the table below:
