Safety notes
1General

The following instructions contain important safety information as well as information

about tools to be used.

WARNING [ hz_serdoc_F13G01U12M02 ]
Avoid accident and injury or damage of parts.
Risk of accident and injury!
¹ Read and observe the “General safety notes” and the
“Product-specific safety notes”.

WARNING [ hz_serdoc_F13G01U05M08 ]
Dangerous voltages may be present. The ON/OFF switch does not
disconnect the ICS/IES from the line voltage.
Risk of electric shock!
¹ Remove the power plug from the grounded power outlet.

WARNING [ hz_serdoc_F12G02U07M02 ]
The UPS contains its own energy source (batteries). The parts
supplied with UPS power (ICS/IES/IRS) may still have power even
when the UPS is not connected to an AC supply (power off sta-
tus).
Risk of electrical shock from the UPS!
¹ Switch off UPS power by switching off the relevant circuit
brakers.
¹ Secure the system against unintended switch-on (e.g.
block breaker against switching on and/or mark breaker
against switch on).

CAUTION [ hz_serdoc_F13G08U01M01 ]
CE conformity of system will no longer be valid when using other
parts than itemized in the spare parts catalogue.
Risk of damage or data loss!
¹ Only components itemized as assemblies in the spare
parts catalogue will be used.

WARNING [ hz_serdoc_F13G01U14M01 ]
Non-permissible or faulty manipulations or changes to the hard-
ware or software can cause system malfunctions. This can cause
injury and/or damage to the equipment.
Risk of accident and injury or damage!
¹ Do not manipulate or modify hardware.
¹ Use only original spare parts shown the spare parts cata-
logue.
¹ The use or installation of software not approved by Sie-
mens is strictly prohibited.

WARNING [ hz_serdoc_F13G01U12M01 ]
Failure to observe the guidelines specified in this document may
lead to serious injury or loss of life.
Risk of accident and/or injury!
¹ The guidelines contained in this document have to be
strictly followed.

CAUTION [ hz_serdoc_F13G01U02M01 ]
Only approved service tools should be used during replacement
and troubleshooting.

Create the BIOS CD / CD, DVD Firmware update CD 0

Download the necessary BIOS file from the intranet. Navigate to “http://cs.med.sie-
mens.de/cms/en/home/default.asp“ and follow path “For Service > Product Information >
CT Systems > Software download“.
(Software download, https://cs.med.siemens.de/cms/productinfo/default.asp?start-
folder=8bd95977e70107fde60d2a5aeebc0049)
Download the BIOS / CD, DVD Firmware file:
• In the “CT-Software Update Page“, left-click the file to be downloaded.
• Save the file to the hard drive c:\temp. When finished, close the window.

Extract the zipped file:

• Go to c:\temp in the Windows Explorer.
• Right-click the BIOS file you just saved and select "WinZip > Extract to..."
• Select c:\temp in the window that appears, and click Extract.
¹ The file will be extracted to c:\temp

Label a blank CD-R/FD with the file name of the downloaded file:
• For ICS and IES Tower 5, e.g., “10141460 VA01A Tower5 CS”
• For ICS and IES Tower 6, e.g., “10142438 VA01A Tower6 CS”
• For ICS and IES Tower 7, e.g., “10142439 VA01B Tower7 CS“
• For ICS and IES Tower 8, e.g., “10143567 VA01D Tower8 CS“

• CD/DVD Firmware, e.g., “10304223 VA01B PlextorUpdate“

Burn the BIOS / CD, DVD Firmware CD:
Write the files to CD using a standard burning software, e.g. Nero, WinOn CD (do not use
the XP burn SW, it can create problems when installing the update).
For the CD, it is recommended that you have to burn the Iso.file as an Image CD. As an
example, here are the work steps for creating the CD using the Nero Burn Software:

• Insert the labeled CD into the CD drive.

• Open Nero Burning Rom.
• Close the "New compilation" window that pops up
• Select Records -> Burn Image... (in some cases select: File-> Burn Image).
¹ an Explorer Window is displayed.
• Select the file that was extracted previously under:
c:\temp\
• Click Open
¹ the "Burn Compilation" window is displayed.
• on the tab card "Burn", under "Action", select the following two actions:
- write
- finalize CD
• Click Burn (in some cases Write, depending on the version).
¹ The Burn process starts.
• When finished an information window is displayed: "Burning process completed suc-
cessfully".
• Click OK (in some cases Done or Discard, depending on the version).
¹ The CD will be ejected automatically.
• Remove the Update CD-R from the CD drive.

NOTE Once the files are extracted to the CD, they must not be copied to
another CD for distribution (e.g. no CD-to-CD copies, as it cannot
be verified that the SW is virus-free).

Virus Check
After the CD is burned successfully, perform a virus scan of the CD after having updated
the virus scanning software with the latest versions of the virus patterns.
After you have performed the virus scan without any problems, the CD is ready and the
Bios update can be performed on the customer system.

Prerequisites for replacements 5.1

Tools and auxiliary equipment 0

• Standard tool kit

• Recon computer only: Configuration floppy (delivered with the spare part)
• IRS Software

Opening covers 0

Most service activities can be performed from the front side of the cabinet.
Only the components of the current limiting are located at the back of the cabinet.
In some cases, opening back and/or side covers may ensure better access to parts and
components. It is especially useful to open the side cover when replacing cables.

NOTICE Risk of accident and injury

Tipping over of IRS cabinet
¹ Secure IRS again to the wall or to the floor according to
the “System installation instruction” upon completion of
work (e.g. after removing it for performing service).

Front and back door

Both the front and back doors are locked with a common key also used for the PDC and
WCS.
The cabinet is mounted on wheels. The mechanical brakes at the front wheels have to be
unlocked before moving. This allows the cabinet to be easily moved to a service position.

NOTICE Risk of damage

IRS may get damaged because of uncontrolled movement
¹ Lock mechanical brakes at IRS cabinet

Side covers
The side covers can be opened by pressing the red lever down (at the top) and up (at the
bottom) with a screwdriver.

NOTE Please note the ground connection inside the side covers.
