“THE LEGAL PROFESSION IN THE POST COVID-19 ERA”

The moment COVID-19 put a limitation on physical interactions in the middle of March, most
economy workers collectively collapsed into video-conferencing to replace face-to-face communication.
The law profession and the administration of justice have been no exception.

The changes that emerged from this pandemic have brought a considerable degree of influence
affecting the society and legal industry. The legal profession faced many of the same disruptive forces
confronting virtually the different sectors of the economy. Lawyers from across the country and the globe
are a bit struggling with the new normal as it is reinstituted from time to time. Law firms that shifted to
remote or home-based work set-up have rendered various seminars to its employees to aid them in
staying productive on their job. They emphasized social interaction and normalized new work
environments while being mindful of the disruptions impacting their lives during this crisis. The courts
all over the country chose to stay open to deliver justice without falter, despite the adjustments and
sacrifices required from them to comply, keeping in mind the welfare of its staff and the public from the
risks of disease by learning and implementing new technology and practices together. Until Covid-19
rendered it a necessity, professors in law schools have unwaveringly resisted the distance learning
scheme. The tech-enabled, crisis-created shift from classroom to online learning occurred with
astonishing speed and extensiveness. The transition exposed technology’s latent potential to support new
models for delivering and consuming legal education and training.

Up to this day, the new normal is being reexamined every day. And there is no telling what forms the
long-term impacts of the pandemic will take place. The profession will need to extract from these
developments which include adapting to a changed reality for the betterment of the legal service.
