Function The equaliser is connected to a number of batteries which provide the same state of charge. It also acts as a 24/12 V voltage converter. The equaliser’s voltage converter uses one of the vehicle's 12 V batteries as a back-up. At a higher load than the voltage converter capacity (20 A), the load on the 12 V battery will be higher. At a lower load, the equaliser resets the charge balance for the 12 V battery, which is used as a backup. The equaliser has a limited form of diagnostics via the CMS control unit. If there is a fault with the equaliser, a fault code is generated in the CMS control unit, which is read using SDP3. 335 769
On vehicles manufactured after May 2016, the driver also receives a message in the instrument cluster in the event of a fault with the equaliser.
IMPORTANT!
The equaliser’s ventilation diaphragm on the
rear facing the wheel housing, which prevents condensation from forming must not be blocked since this can affect the function of the component. 374 619
