Nouman Khan a young Entrepreneur

Nouman Khan is a 30 year old. He was born in Islamabad on 12 th February 1980. He owns a wide range
of businesses including the F-11 franchise of Shaheen Chemist that has completed three years of
successful operations. Nomi Khan Productions established in 2001 is one of his company’s operating
under the umbrella of “Best Ways Enterprises”

which produces T.V serials for private T.V channels in Pakistan (including ARY Digital and GEO) and
others. Some of his productions include “Kahani Payaar Ki”, ‘Tum kaysi Mohabat Kertay hoh” and
“Happy Mood”. Other then that the Parent company of all of his businesses “Best Ways Enterprises” has
also developed land for residential housing schemes. Way back in 1998 he went to United States of
America and started his own gold shop named as “Gold Valley” and is still doing quite well.
Development of a petrol pump on the outskirts of Islamabad is also underway.

Nouman got his education from private schools and did his masters in computer science from Bahria
University. After C.S (from Bahria) he joined Rawalpindi flying school and got the license to be a
commercial pilot. Though he pursued C.S as specialization but it was always a fall back kind of thing in
case his business goes south. Nouman never acknowledges being an entrepreneur probably out of
modesty but it is quite evident that he always had an entrepreneur in him. As a child he once saw a
flower seller and asked his father how much can he earn in a day. Nouman went to U.S looking for new
avenues of opportunity as he was inspired by the achievements of Michael Dell and Paul Allen. Thanks
to his shrewd entrepreneurial mind he married an American woman to get nationality. He worked in the
US for a little while as a commercial pilot and it was at that time when he started his gold business. Gold
Valley has net worth up to $ 1,000,000 and has about 30 employees. The monthly sales revenue of Gold
Valley is about $ 200,000. Then he moved back to Pakistan to pursue opportunities at home, this way
he could spend more time with his parents. When asked about what type of father he has he replied by
quoting R. Duvall “Not every successful man is a good father. But every good father is a successful man”.
Financial Requirements

To start his business Nouman did need capital and it was mostly generated through banks and partly
financed by inherited money. Getting money from the banks wasn’t an easy task. To get these financial
institutions into confidence Nouman used the credibility of the businesses his father was running for
some time. In addition to that a detailed and proper business plan presented to the banks helped in
attaining the required finances. Nouman hired people who were already in the business rather than
going into completely unchartered waters himself; this is constant in all his ventures.
