8. How was the weather in the city, country where he grew up?
The weather in Peru - Arequipa was sunny most of the time, but in winter it was
rainy and cloudy.
At 2010 he won the Literature Nobel Price, which is the highest and most wanted
price regarding literature.
11. Who did he live with? Tell us something about one of them?
He lived with his grandfather and her mother in Piura, where continued
studying the primary school and established a friendship with Javier Silva
Ruete, who became a prominent economist of the military government.
He became well known for having won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2010
and other literary awards, as well as because of his participation in politics.
His teachers included the surrealist poet César Moro, who thought him French
and the historian, professor of San Marcos University, Raúl Porras
Barrenechea who wrote a theater play which later on was going to be taken
into scene.
14. How do you think people or society have changed since his
contribution? He has demonstrated that we peruvian people can achieve our
goals in any activity that we participate in, if we do as Mr. Vargas Llosa did,
with effort , intelligence and cleverness.
He is a very cultivated and intelligent person. He has travelled a lot around the
world and is well know everywhere.
He is currently participating in social and cultural events both in Perú and Europe.
18. Get a picture and tell what is he doing on it? What is he wearing,
who is he with? What are the others doing or wearing? Can you tell when
does this scene has taken place?
He is just talking to his ex-wife, he is wearing a black suit, a white shirt and grey
tie. His ex-wife is wearing black dress and a pearl necklace, and they are
talking very seriously. This scene has taken place just before Mr. Vargas Llosa
won the Literature Nobel Price because he is still with his previous wife before
he got divorced.
Mario Vargas Llosa works as a journalist in the Peruvian Tourism and Culture
magazines. As a well known character he is sometimes invited to radio and
Television programs to talk about literature and politics.

These activities take place mostly in Europe because he passes most of the
time there, but sometimes he returns to Peru when some literature event takes
place.
22. Can you describe the city where he is living now? What kind of
touristic places can we find there? Tell us a little about one of them?
He is living in Spain at its capital city, Madrid, which is has many touristic
places such as The Reina Sofia Museum where you can see one of the most
famous spanish paintings, El Guernica, by Pablo Picasso.
24. In which way would you like to imitate his life and achievements?
How can you behave as him?
I would like to research about how to change and understand today's young
people´s way of thinking, and write a book about this topic as Mr. Vargas Llosa
did about several topics in his life.
25. Tell us please if one of this books has inspired a movie ? Can you
tell us something about it?
One of his best sellers has become a famous movie called “Pantaleon y las
Visitadoras” , which tells us the story of a military captain who is given a very
strange mission at a very well known Peruvian City at the “Selva”. We can
state that this books brilliantly describes the way that this city behaves, as well
as the citizens living there, specially the soldiers and military people.

26. Can you tell us about “the latinamerican boom” , what does it mean?
Mario Vargas Llosa is considered one of the best Latin American Writers. He is
compared with “Julio Cortázar” (from Argentina) and “Gabriel Garcia Marquez
(from Colombia and also Nobel Price Winner too) . These three well known writers
are considered the “Latinamerican boom” .
27. What did he meant at his Nobel Price Speech when he said “My wife
always tells me that I am only usefull in writing books” ?
Mario Vargas Llosa at his Nobel Price speech told the audience that in one of his
conversation with his wife Patricia (at that time) she announced that he was only
useful in writing books because he was a gifted man with a purpose and goal only
to be achieved by literature. For Mario Vargas Llosa, nothing else matters but his
work as a writer.
The new theatre next to the National Public Library in Lima (San Borja District) is
named “Mario Vargas Llosa”. At the outside it has a small statue of this famous
writer to make a homage to his work and achievements. This theatre is one of
the most modern and newest buildings at Lima (capital city of Peru)
