Collect the fingerprints of your family.

The Scientific Method .-

1. Define Purpose.- The purpose of this experiment is to determine if

the fingerprints of members of the same family can be alike or
similar.

2. Construct Hypothesis .- The hypothesis could be : “No fingerprint

can be identical to other one from a member of a family to other”

3. Test the hypothesis and collect data .- I have collected 5 different

kinds of fingerprints, and also mine to make a comparison. I will use
a hand lens as scientific tool in this case.

4. Analyze Data .- The data collected for a total of 6 people of the same
family ( blood related) will be compared, considering, shape, curves
and other kind of features in each fingerprint. This examination
should be carried on using the hand lens, with detail and patience.

5. Draw a conclusion .- After analyzing carefully each fingerprint, and

considering also gender ( we have two women, three men and one
child) , age of each member we can conclude that the hypothesis is
correct, but we should increase our range of samples later on with
our school fellows results afterwards. “No fingerprint can be
identical to other one from a member of a family to other” .- THIS
HYPOTHESIS IS CORRECT.

6. Communicate results .- This homework will be our published paper .

In this picture you can see the use of the hand lens to check the
shape and figures at the fingerprints. As you can see , I have followed
Mr. Anglas instructions , but I have only two members of my family
here, that is , both of my parents.
I asked permission to my relatives who live abroad to use their data
to complete this investigation. As my tutor says we cannot use
personal data unless you have expressed permission to do so.
