What can you see in your hand ? .-

MICROBES
Why do you think that your hand has all these microbes?
BECAUSE IT IS DIRTY

OUR HANDS TOUCH DIRTY THINGS AS DOORS, CELL PHONES, TOOLS, ETC
WHICH ARE ALREADY DIRTY AND WITH MICROBES
Do you know microoganisms which are harmful? Can you give some
examples?

Do you know microoganisms which are not harmful? Can you give some
examples?
Have you heard about virus? Are these living organisms or not?
VIRUSES ARE NOT CLASSIFIED AS LIVING ORGANISMS BECAUSE THEY DO
NOT HAVE CELLULAR STRUCTURE. THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY OF THE
STRUCTURES THAT ARE FOUND IN LIVING CELLS.
VIRUSES ARE LITTLE MORE THAN MOBILE GENES THAT INFECT CELLS AND
CAUSE THEM TO MANUFACTURE MORE VIRUSES.
FIRST OBSERVED IN 1935, MORE THAN 160 GROUPS HAVE BEEN
IDENTIFIED. THEY ARE CLASSIFIED MAINLY BY THE TYPE OF DISEASES THEY
CAUSE . DIFFERENT GROUPS HAVE DIFFERENT SHAPES

Now please lets read carefully the following text:

Do you know what is a microbe? These are so small that we cannot see
them at simple sight, Scientific use special apparatus called microscopes to
see them

Allthough we cannot see them , they are present, There are more than
9000 species of microbes which live in our houses . Some of them are fungi
and other bacteria which can get inside us through our clothes , through
our windows , or through the open doors.
Virus are not microbes , but are so small as them and we can also never
see them at simple sight.
Both Viruses and microbes but they are so small as tem , and we can
neither see them at simple sight. They both can cause us illness , that is the
reason why we must keep us clean ourselves , as well as our home. For
example, the virus which produces COVID-19 has infected too much people
and has travelled through many countries. Do you know how does it do so?
If someone has this virus , it can snore several times and through up several
drops of saliva. In case that this person does not protect himself with his
arm covering his mouth , he will leave the virus in every place in which
these tiny drops will fall, the floor, other peoples clothes , doors, etc. Even
more, if he does not wash his hands with soap and water , he will leave the
virus in everything he touches.
But please don´t worry, it is simple not to get infected with this virus. We
must wash our hands frequently with soap and water. In this way we also
avoid that the microbes can make us ill. If we constantly wash our hands
with soap and water we are getting protected of many illness.

We ask ourselves : During this isolation period … why is it so important to

wash our hands with soap and water? ( INQUIRY QUESTION)
To answer this question , please read the following information :
A single drop of soap is enough to break and destroy the structure of many
types of microorganisms and also the virus which produces COVID-19. If
your hand picks up the virus , this will not penetrate your skin. It needs to
get inside through your mouth , through your nose , your eyes or by an
injure at your skin. That is the reason why you need to wash your hands ,
because if you hace already touched something where the virus was placed
in , the virus will wait patiently that you get distracted and you can carry it
to the places where it can enter into your body.
While you are washing your hands with soap and water, the virus will get
off your skin. Also, water and soap will dissolve the outer layer of the virus,
which is composed of grease. Then water will take charge and will carry the
rest of the virus. All this happens in 20 seconds. Soap needs time to make
two things: First, time to dissolve the grease layer of the virus, and second ,
time to reach all the parts of your hand.

Possible answer to the inquiry question

Choose the best answer and write it down :
1. Because water and soap dissolve the grease layer of the virus and
destroy it.
2. Because water is a liquid , it helps to eliminate the virus.

To verify the possible answer, we suggest to follow the next

experiment:

Materials:

Transparent and plastic glasses. Palm Oil and water

Masking Tape and Pen Soap Dissolved in water

When you have all the ingredients name the glasses from 1 to 5 , as you can
see from the diagram :

In each water add :

Glass N° 1 : 7 teaspons of soap solution

Glass N° 2 : 7 teaspons of soap solution

Glass N° 3 : 7 teaspons of clear water

Glass N° 4 : 7 teaspons of clear water

Glass N° 5 : 14 teaspons of palm oil

Put all the glasses in the same place , then do as follows:

In glass 1 , add 7 teaspons of palm oil (from glass 5)

In glass 3 add 7 teaspons of palm oil ( from glass 5)

Then with a spoon shake the content of glass 1 for 10 seconds

Then, with another spoon shake the content og glass 3 for 10

seconds.

Glasses 2 and 4 are only for comparison.

The difference between Glass 1 and Glass 2 is that the grease has dissolved
completely in glass 1, but it is a little bit dirty. It need more water to clear up.

The differences between glass 3 and glass 4 , is the two perfect layers formed on
glass 3 , water and grease cannot mix up.
The differences between glass 1 and glass 3 is that water cannot be used to dissolve
grease.

So the result is that we need soap to dissolve the grease of then virus, helped by
water also, and it needs almost 20 seconds to do so.
