Announcement for the beginning of the Romanian classes

Dear students,

Welcome to our University! First of all, you have to know that for a period of time the classes will be
held online. For this to happen you have to follow some steps.

1. Join the Facebook group: An pregatitor LR Poly 2020-21, where we post information related to the
courses

2. Activate your student account in order to be able to access the learning platforms (Moodle and MS
Teams)

How to access UPB platforms?

1. You have to activate your account from my.upb.ro; There you have to choose activate your
account and introduce your passport number in the section CNP. After that You will receive on
mail/ phone the credentials (username and password). If you have there a wrong mail/ phone
number, you cannot receive anything; in this case you open a ticket on https://ticketing.upb.ro/
(where you state your problems).
2. After activation, you will get a username and a password: those credentials must be used on
UPB Moodle (curs.upb.ro ) and on Teams (https://teams.microsoft.com/). Pay attention: on
Moodle you put just the username (usually in the form of name.surname, but sometimes is
different) and on Teams you put your student e-mail: username@stud.fils.upb.ro
3. After successfully logging to Moodle, in the Dashboard you should normally see the courses
from your group/ contract. If you don’t see them, you can search for them and self-
enroll: https://curs.upb.ro/course/index.php?categoryid=476 
4. If you are registered to a course on Moodle, you should be also enrolled in the corresponding
team from Teams, but sometimes the synchronization lasts for 1 day, so be patient! You can also
ask your teacher to add you in the team.
5. On Moodle there is a section of Common courses: there we have the meta-courses, the courses
which are taught at more than one specialization. Not all such courses are there: they are
created only if your professor asks me to do this, by putting a ticket.
For accessing your grades, you must go to studenti.pub.ro. If your user.surname does not work, use the
passport number (or the code inserted instead of it) and the last 6 digits.
If you have problems, put a ticket on https://ticketing.upb.ro/

3. When you managed to activate your account and you logged in to the Moodle and Teams platforms
please let us know by a message on the Facebook group. There we will announce you when the classes
start.

Utilizator = Username

Parola = Password

You don’t write anything in these two fields because you don’t have them.

Below Password> Click Activare cont = Account activation

Click sign in

Choose the method of credentials reset by scrolling down from Metoda de resetare (Reset method):
choose email or phone (they are the personal email or the telephone which you used in your
application/registration documents).

Introduce your PASSPORT number in the field CNP

Tick Nu sunt robot (I am not a robot)

Click on Trimite link (Send the link)

If this is done OK, normally you should receive an email or an sms with the credentials (username and
password) which you will use to login to the Moodle and Teams platforms – the learning platforms with
your online courses.

IF this doesn’t happen you open a ticket to state your problem on: on https://ticketing.upb.ro/

Here click on open a new ticket

Contact Information: Here it is obligatory to fill in only the information required by the red asterisk , that
is:

- the full name – your name from the passport

- email address – your personal email address

- phone number

The other 2 (CNP – passport number and institutional email address ) are not obligatory. The
institutional email address refers to your email address as an UPB student if you know it, but most
probably you don’t know it because you are going to find it out when they send you the credentials. (it
looks like this: username@stud.fils.upb.ro)
Then, click on select a help topic and choose (by scrolling down) a topic for your problem – in your case:
Activare cont. If you have another problem than account activation choose Alte probleme.

Introduce the CAPTCHA text.

Click on Create ticket.

Normally you should receive an answer on your personal email in 1-2 days, maybe sooner.

If the message says you don’t have a contract with UPB it means that your name has not been yet
introduced in the students platform , so you have to wait a few more days and try again.

If you don’t receive any message from the helpdesk it may mean that you didn’t provide a personal
email address or a telephone to be contacted. In this case contact Mrs Maria Dascalu – the IT
responsible on email maria.dascalu@upb.ro, and explain the situation.

If you successfully activated your account and you received the credentials (username and password)
you can go to the learning platforms by accessing Moodle (curs.upb.ro) and Teams
(https://teams.microsoft.com/) – it’s better to install your application on your phones or
computers/notebooks.

For Moodle you introduce just the username.

For Teams you put your student e-mail: username@stud.fils.upb.ro

When you log in to the learning platforms you can find the following Romanian courses:

Curs practic de limba română : fonetică, vocabular și structuri gramaticale (Practical course of Romanian

Introducere în studiul limbii române (Introduction to the study of Romanian language)
Cultură și civilizație românească (Romanian culture and civilization)

The same courses will be available in Teams.

On MOODLE we are going to post teaching materials, homework and various announcements (in the
forum section). You will automatically receive the posting including announcements on your student
email. Check it regularly.

ON TEAMS we are going to work synchronously in a live meeting (we will actually work the teaching
materials). You are expected to be present and to participate in the virtual class.
The schedule for the preparatory year for the first semester contains teacher’s names (such as my name
Mihaela Pricope) the hours when you have classes and some abbreviations (initials). These are the
names of the Romanian language courses which I told you above.

Introducere în studiul limbii române (Introduction to the study of Romanian language) - ILR
Cultură și civilizație românească (Romanian culture and civilization) – CC

On TEAMS you also have groups: Group 1, Group 2, Group 3, Group 4

You will be announced on Facebook in which group you take part. The first group that we are going to
form is normally Group 1. So the students from Group 1 will go to the online classes which are
established in the schedule for this group.
For example:
Monday. 10-11 COS – This means that Group 1 will click on Group 1 and will choose the course Curs
practic de comunicare orală și scrisă (Practical course of Romanian language: Oral and written
communication) (COS).
