INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES
1. There are FOUR questions on this paper.
2. Answer ALL questions.
5. Report any problems with the computer or software to the invigilator who will, if possible,
grant you extra time to make up for time lost.
6. If problems are experienced in printing your files, you may request aid from the invigilator
or teacher. Printing is not considered part of the examination.
8. A diskette will be provided which must be submitted together with all print-outs at the end
of the examination. Note that the examination is marked from the printed output and NOT
from the diskette.
9. An adequate amount of stationery will be supplied.
1. (a) Open the file named TRAINING which is located on your diskette.
(c) Set the page size to 8.5 inches x 11 inches and the orientation to landscape.
( 1 mark)
(d) Insert the text "COMPUTER TRAINING" as the title of the document. The title
line should be placed two lines above the content of the document. ( 2 marks)
(e) Format the text in the title line to be bold, centred and with Arial font style of size 17.
( 2 marks)
(f) Insert the file named FEES which is located on your diskette as the second paragraph in
the document. ( 2 marks)
(g) Insert the following row in the table containing the course fees.
Internet 200
Place the row after the row containing the course fees for database. ( 2 marks)
(h) Right-align the table and remove ALL borders from the document. ( 2 marks)
(i) Insert the text below as a paragraph after the paragraph containing the Internet training.

U) Divide the page into two columns such that the paragraphs on Database, Internet,
Presentation Graphics and Desktop Publishing and Operating systems are in the
second column. The title of the document should NOT be affected by the columns.

(k) Set the line spacing of the paragraph on Operating Systems to be 1.5. ( 1 mark)
(1) Insert a footer with the text FINAL REPORT at the right. ( 2 marks)
(n) Use the automatic page numbering feature to insert page numbers at the top right hand
of the entire document. ( 2 marks)
(o) Use the spell checker to correct the spelling of ALL underlined words. ( 1 mark )

the three merge fields in the appropriate locations above. ( 2 marks)
3. (a) Open the spreadsheet file named CIT located on your diskette so that it begins in Cell A6.
(c) Use the date function to insert the system date in Cell El. ( 1 mark)
(d) Label Cells F6, G6 and A14 with the text Total, Percentage and Total respectively.

(e) Insert a row between Database and Presentation Graphics and enter the following data:

(h) In the appropriate cells, insert formulae to compute the TOTAL persons trained for
EACH quarter and for EACH course. ( 2 marks)
(i) In Column G insert the appropriate formulae to compute percentage of persons trained
for EACH course. Use absolute addressing. ( 2 marks)
(j) Format the numeric data in Column G to percentages with 2 decimal places.

(k) Format ALL numeric data in Columns A through F with comma format and to 0
decimal place. ( 1 mark )

(n) In the range B19:B21, insert appropriate functions to compute the average, minimum
and maximum number of persons trained in the quarters. ( 3 marks)
(p) Extract the records that represent courses whose QTR4 was above 50. Include
the Course and the QTR4 figure. The criterion range should start in Cell A25 and the
extracted data range should start in Cell A30. ( 3 marks)
(q) Create a pie chart showing the total persons trained in EACH course. Use an appropriate
title for your pie chart. EACH slice of the pie should indicate the course and percentages.
Save the chart in a vacant area on the spreadsheet. ( 4 marks)
(b) Add a new record in the Course table with the following data:
(c) Remove the record with SID= "M30" and Title= "Word Processing". ( 1 mark)
(d) Correct the marks for SID = "M40". New mark is 75. ( 1 mark)
(e) Sort the Course table in ASCENDING order by Tutor. Save the table. ( 3 marks)
(i) ALL female students who are over 18 years. List the First, Last, Sex and
Age fields. Save the query as FQRY. ( 3 marks)
(ii) ALL courses taught by the tutor Wayne. List the Title and Tutor fields. Save
the query as WQRY. ( 3 marks)
(iii) The average age of male students. Save the query as AVGQRY. ( 3 marks)
(iv) The minimum marks scored by the student. Save the query as MINQRY.

(v) Points are awarded to students based on their age. The points are computed as
follows: Points = 20% of age. Insert a calculated field in the student table to
compute the points awarded to students. Save the query as PTQRY.

(i) A list showing the courses students are doing. The report should include the
Title, First, Last and Sex fields and should be sorted by T itle. Use an appropriate
title for the report. Name the report COURSERPT. ( 5 marks)
(ii) A list showing the marks students obtained in the different courses. The report
should include the First, Last, Title and Marks fields. The report should have
the title "COURSE RESULTS" and sorted on the Title field and then Last
field. Name the report MARKRPT. ( 5 marks)
