Installation Instructions OD Viewer

I. a) Windows
Put the first CD/DVD in your CD drive. Double click “setup.exe if the
installation does not start automatically.

If there is no (actual) java (version 1.4.2 required) installed on your computer

you will be shown an error message. In this case you need to install java.

The install file can be found on the first CD/DVD in folder “Software” (j2sdk-
1_4_2_06-windows-i586-p.exe)

After the installation of java, start “setup.exe” again and continue with II.

b) Other operating systems

Check if the minimal required java (version 1.4.2) is installed. You can
download this version from http://www.sun.com in case you need it.

Install the required version.

Start the installation by running “[publication name]-install.jar” on the first

CD/DVD and continue with II.

II. Installation

1. Choose language of installation instructions and click “Ok”

2. Click „Next“

F “Quit” will abort the installation

3. Select „I accept the terms of this license agreement” and click “Next”

4. Choose destination folder for the installation

Click „Next“

5. a) First installation: Install all three options.
b) Additional Projects: “Jetty” can be deselected

Click “Next“

6. Choose folder where you want to copy the content files of the project to by
clicking “browse”

Create a new folder (name it clearly, for instance „Shoreham content“) on a hard
drive with enough free space (it is possible to choose an other drive than the one
you have chosen under step 4).

Select the created folder and click “open”

If desired, change „Publication Name“

"Webserver Port Number“ does not have to be changed.

7. Click „Next“

If you click „Quit“, the installation window is closed.

8. Choose desired options.

Click “Next“

9. Click „Done“ to complete the installation

10. Copy the project content

On the DVD, you’ll find one or more folders named „Vol_000x“. Copy these
folders to the folder you created and marked in step 6.

11. Start OD Viewer:

In Start / Program files you find the following menu points (depending on what you
chose in step 8, you can find these shortcuts on your desktop as well)

Choose “Start ALSTOM OD-Viewer (Server)”, you get the following Window
minimized in your task bar

The server needs about 20 seconds to start.

Start the OD Viewer by starting „ALSTOM OD-Viewer (Browser)“from the start

menu or your desktop

If you get a „page cannot be displayed“-error, server was not ready. Start
ALSTOM OD-Viewer (Browser) again.

III. Tips

• Modify path of content files

The path of the content files stored in the file (standard instalaltion)

C:\Programme\OD Viewer\webapps\[Publication name]\WEB-INF\web.xml

Open this file in an editor and modify the following entry:

<param-name>satellite.content.basedir</param-name>
<param-value>F:\temp\jeg\content</param-value>
</init-param>
