Overview

1 Overview

This instruction concerns alarm handling.

1.1 Description
The alarm is a primary alarm. The alarm is issued by the DeviceGroup,
DigitalCable, and EcPort Managed Objects (MOs).

The possible alarm causes and fault locations are explained in Table 1.

1.2 Prerequisites
This section provides information on the documents, tools and conditions that
apply to the procedure.

1.2.1 Documents

Before starting this procedure, ensure to that you have read the following
documents:

• System Safety Information

• Antenna and RF Connections

• Element Manager

• Installing RBS

• Modifying Configurations

1.2.2 Tools
No tools are required.

1.2.3 Conditions

2 Procedure

This section describes the procedure to follow when the alarm is issued.

2.1 Analyzing Alarm

To clear the alarm, the following solutions are available:

• Check if the AIR is degraded or failed, contact the next level of maintenance
support.

• Check if the cable stated in the alarm is connected to the correct port,
see Section 2.2 on page 4.

• Check if the configuration is correct and complies with the cable

connections or the DUWs, see Section 2.3 on page 4.

• Check if the hubposition is given a proper value, see Section 2.4 on

page 4.

2.2 Actions for Wrongly Connected Cable

To correct the wrongly connected cable, do the following:

1. Reconnect the cable stated in the alarm and use the correct port.

2. Confirm that the alarm is cleared. If the alarm remains, see Section 2.3
on page 4.

2.3 Actions for Configuration Correction

To modify the configuration, do the following:

1. Create an XML input file, unless a prepared XML file already exists.

2. Run the Modify RBS Equipment Configuration application with the XML
input file as instructed in Modifying Configurations.

Note: This action affects cells and causes traffic disturbance.

3. Confirm that the alarm is cleared. If the alarm remains, contact the next
level of maintenance support.

2.4 Actions for EcPort

To clear the alarm, do the following:

4 194/1543-LZA 701 6003 Uen F | 2014-04-22

Procedure

1. Check if the hubposition is given a proper value, that is, the value is
set to the port to which the hardware unit is connected in the hub. The
hubposition value is not configured for any other EcPort MO.

2. Check that the alarm is cleared.

3. If the alarm remains, contact the next level of maintenance support.
