Instructor's Profile
The Course examines supply chain management (SCM), and discusses its importance and
benefits to the overall strategy and competitiveness of firms of all sizes. The course
explores key elements that comprise supply management, operations, logistics &
integration. The course will enhance students understanding for building supplier
relationships, forming alliance, strategic resourcing, ERP, Network design,
transportation, service management according to key performance indicators. The course
will specifically look into current research in supply chain management and opportunities
for developing new models in supply chain management.
Learning Outcomes

1. Demonstrate operational purchasing methods and techniques on supplier
management and supply in specific business contexts.
2. Explain the strategic importance of logistic elements and describe how they affect
supply chain management.
3. Advice management on the organization of E-commerce, logistics, import taxes,
risk, customs and legal aspects of global trading.
4. Analyze the creation of new value in the supply chain for customers, society and
the environment.
5. Understand issues and Analyze data in a supply chain.
The instructor will facilitate student learning in discussion based class sessions every
week. The students will be given research articles for self study and contemplation. Every
student is expected to read the assigned articles critically and discuss their understanding
and perspective in the class. The class discussion would be analytical on the basis of
theoretical foundation, research methodology and academic & research significance of
article.
Every student is expected to develop a new research idea, elaborated by a model based
upon established theories to justify the validity, hypotheses, & research methodology.
Hence in the first half semester students will develop a research proposal and in the
second half of semester they will collect data, analyze and provide the results by building
arguments in the light of existing literature, thus completing a research paper.
The course requires textbook and supplement readings which will be provided by the
instructor from time to time.
