INTELLECTUAL REVOLUTIONS THAT DEFINED SOCIETY

A. COPERNICAN REVOLUTION (MONICA)


- The Copernican Revolution was propounded by Nicolaus (Nicholas) Copernicus,
a Polish astronomer. It is the idea that rejected the Ptolemaic model (Earth is the
center of the solar system) and proved the Heliocentric model (Sun is the center of
the solar system and the planets, including Earth, are revolving around it.
B. DARWINIAN REVOLUTION (HANNY)
- The Darwinian Revolution started when Charles Darwin published his book “The
Origin of Species” that emphasizes that humans are the result of an evolution.
This revolution provided a different viewpoint about the origin of humans than
the commonly believed Biblical “theory of Creation”. This has brought a great
impact on how people approach Biology forever.
C. FREUDIAN REVOLUTION (RICK)
- The Freudian Revolution started from Sigmund Freud’s theories on psychiatry.
This includes the “Freudian Theory of Personality” which is said to contribute to
the development of the human personality. He also developed a set of therapeutic
techniques, which were also said to contribute to the development of one’s
personality, centered on talk therapy that involved the use of strategies such as
transference, free association, and dream interpretation or the psychoanalysis.
D. INFORMATION REVOLUTION (KHEN)
- This has been the era in which technology was prevalent. It is also known as the
Computer Age that has brought so much change on our lives. Information
revolution is a period of change that might prove as significant to the lives of
people. Computer technology is at the root of this change, and continuing
advancements in that technology seem to ensure that this revolution would touch
the lives of people.
E. MESOAMERICAN REVOLUTION (MONICA)
- The Mesoamerican Revolution involves a few civilizations such as the Mayan
Civilization, the Inca Civilization, and the Aztec Civilization. Those civilizations
contributed a lot in the discoveries and advancements in different areas of science
and technology such as Archaeology, Engineering, Astronomy, and other fields of
knowledge.
F. ASIAN REVOLUTION (HANNY)
- Asia, considered as the home of many ancient civilizations, is the biggest
continent in the world and is the host of many cultural, economic, political, and
scientific activities of all ages. The revolution itself taught Asian countries about
freedom and independent nationhood along with the improvements brought by it
internally.
G. MIDDLE EAST REVOLUTION (RICK)
- Intellectual life in the Middle East, influenced by Islam, has a long and varied
history. The Middle East Revolution had greater value in science experiments and
mathematics.
H. AFRICAN REVOLUTION (KHEN)
- The African Revolution led to the development of Geometry. Africa was known
for being the center of Alchemy back then. They also studied the human anatomy
and pharmacology. This revolution also helped in the enhancement of Astronomy
and Mathematics.
