Oral presentation – Moana

You can’t argue with the fact that Moana has a lot on her young shoulders and
her love for the sea, her name literally means sea in many Polynesian
languages. But leaving these aside she has many other talents ranging from
advice and persuasion, swimming and travelling and decision making to show
why she would makes a good chief.

We can tell she would make a good chief because of her persuasive words and
advice. One scene for this is when Moana breaks down walls from Maui by
spotting a tattoo on his back which meant a great deal to Maui, the tattoo
showed Maui being thrown to the sea by his parents and being saved and
adopted by the gods and was given a magical fish hook. When Maui explains
this to Moana, Moana persuades Maui to try again by saying “it’s not the gods
that makes you Maui, it’s you”. With this piece of evidence we can see that she
is talented in giving advice and persuading others which are good qualities of a
leader which leads us to the next argument.

When hei hei the chicken which is dumb in many ways fall down from the boat,
Moana would have to swim to get him out of the ocean, this depicts that
Moana is a skilful swimmer. To back it up even more, when she believes the
ocean made a mistake by choosing her, she gives back the heart to the sea, but
when she realises her mistake, she jumps and dives in to the sea to take back
the heart and coming back out with no problems. She even is a good traveller,
as you can see at the end of the movie she sails with her tribe and she is
leading them. This is another reason why Moana would be a good chief and
leading the tribe in the future.
Decision making is really important in our lives. We use it nearly every day
numerus of times, like what to eat, what to play, what to watch on Netflix and
what you want to be when you grow up. Moana does this many times from the
start to the end. When the coconuts were turning black she said instead of
planting them on this side of the island, plant them down the other side.
Another scene was when she decided it was her destiny to restore the heart of
refit when she failed and tried again. Decision making is really important for a
leader because the decision affects the tribe and Moana has this, so Moana
would make a great chief and leader.

I made my case and it’s your turn to think and consider if she is a good leader
and chief, she has many talents and leader qualities ranging from advice and
persuasion, swimming and travelling and decision making which makes her fit
for being a future leader.
