Moana, the strong-willed daughter of a chief of a Polynesian village, who is chosen by the
ocean itself to reunite a mystical relic with a goddess. When a blight strikes her island, Moana
sets sail in search of Maui, a legendary demigod, in the hope of returning the heart of Te Fiti
and saving her people.
Moana and Maui sail across the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering
enormous monsters and impossible odds. Along the way, Moana fulfills the ancient quest of
her ancestors and discovers the one thing she always sought: her own identity.

1. On the Polynesian island of Motunui, the inhabitants worship the goddess of nature,
Te Fiti, who brought life to the ocean long ago using a pounamu stone as her heart
and the source of her power. Moui, the trickster and shape-shifting demigod of the
wind and sea and master of sailing, steals the heart to give humanity the power of
creation.
2. A thousand years later, the ocean chooses Moana, daughter of Motunui's chief Tui, to
return the heart to Te Fiti. Tui and Sina. Moana's father and mother try to keep her
away from the ocean to prepare her to become the island's chief. Sixteen years later, a
blight strikes the island, killing vegetation and shrinking the fish catch.
3. Moana's grandmother. Tala shows her a secret cove of ships, revealing that their
people were voyagers until Maui stole Te Fiti's heart: the ocean was no longer safe
without it. Tala explains that Te Ko's darkness is poisoning the island but can be cured
if Moana finds Maui and has him restore the heart of Te Fiti.
4. Maui reveals that his first tattoo was earned when his mortal parents abandoned him
as an infant. After reassurance from Moana, Maui teaches her the art of sailing.
5. Maui abandons a tearful Moana, who asks the ocean to restore her heart and loses
hope. Tala's spirit appears, inspiring Moana to find her true calling. Maui returns,
having had a change of heart, and buys Moana time to reach Te Fiti.

I felt inspired and happy at the same time while watching the movie. I feel inspired because
Moana has the characteristics of a brave and courageous person. As I watched the movie, I
related it to real life, and in some way, I understood it as the story of a journey through life.
Maui, the demigod, is our guide in life. Taka is the negative side of life, and Te Fiti is the
positive side, or the success that we earn in life. It reflects in real life as a challenge to
continue the journey of life to pursue and strive more despite the struggle. As a college
student, I know that there will be more struggles to face, and I consider that a reason to
pursue my goals because I own a life and it is my duty to protect and fight for it. I learned that
the process is the most important part of life because, during that process, I may learn a lot of
lessons that will change my perspective on how to view or see life.
