5G is on its wäy.
Already more than 100 operators have officially launched 5G.

According to GSMA (Sep 2020), we already have

• 106 commercial launches
• 7% population penetration
and expect
• 20% of global connections on 5G by 2025

According to Canalys (Sep 2020),

Crowd conquers 5G.
Since Q1 the number DACH
of 5G samples is
significantly
increasing.
The map shows the increasing
footprint from cw 12 to cw 40.
It indicates
• growing numbers of 5G users
• growing 5G coverage
The people are buying more 5G
capable phones and are able to use
them in growing 5G networks.

Time spent ön 5G.
The “time on 5G” is a very good indicator for 5G availability.

The graph indicates how much of their time 5G users can really enjoy 5G services.
Saudi Arabia and South Korea are leading in this category. Our typical well performing
connect test countries NL and CH are part of the top third.
The country is represented by the operator with the highest figures.

Töp Speeds for 5G Users.
The speed landscape is very heterogenous.

The graph indicates the top speeds crowd users have experienced during their normal
smartphone usage.
The top speeds strongly depend on
 available 5G spectrum  Implementation strategies (e.g. DSS)

 frequency bands  used services

umlaut 5G Cröwd Score.
No benchmark without score.

 Crowd sourcing covers the user experience part of umlaut’s

scoring framework.
 For 5G the complete user experiences of 5G capable users are
considered. That also includes their usage of e.g. 4G/LTE.
 Crowd score categories are
 Time on 5G
 Speed
 Basic internet class (min 2 Mbps)
 HD video class (min 5 Mbps)
 UHD video class (min 20 Mbps)
 Latency
 OTT voice class (max 100ms)
 Gaming class (max 50ms)
 The score is still under construction.

5G World Ränking List (Prototype).
The score shows performances from 5G end user perspective.

The graph delivers a first snapshot

of a world ranking for 5G users.

Performance results are depending

on how long and often services are
used with 5G and include times on
4G.

The country is represented by the

operator with the highest score.

Speed strongly depends on bandwidth within the used frequency
band. DSS performance is currently closer to 4G than to 5G.

Session Reliability

• 5G data rate improvements are clearly visible.

• Top speeds above 300 Mbps can be achieved.
• The 5G session reliabilities are on a good level.

Conclüsion.
5G is on its way… which is still a long one.

• More and more network launches worldwide.

• Increasing number of devices and users.
• Growing coverage footprints in the countries.
• Currently 5G mainly in metropolitan areas.
• Deployment challenges have to be solved
(coverage, devices, DSS and more).
