Fatigue management report

Introduction
This report is aimed to provide insights into different aspects of fatigue management
and to aware the management of the possible consequences of fatigue. Similarly,
this study will also explore the underlying triggers and influences in the workplace.
Because fatigue not only influences the employee’s physical and mental health but
also influences the surrounded people's safety and health. Therefore, managing
fatigue is crucial when it comes to managing a large pool of human resources.

Problems associated with fatigue


Fatigue refers to a disturbance in the mental and physical aspects of a human being.
It is not only a situation of mental and physical tiredness, and dozy but also a
physical and mental risky overtiredness that diminishes the productivity and
efficiency of workers as well as inability to execute his duties and responsibilities
effectively. Similarly, fatigue can also be termed as an impact or condition of drug
utilized for its treatment such as:

- The severe failure of the liver.


- Causing Anaemia.
- Nervousness syndrome
- Causing cancer too.
- Chronic kidney disease.
- Stress, depression, pain. Etc.
- Heart problems.
- Fatness.
In summary, fatigue impacts an individual’s capability to properly function. Fatigue
has different side-effects such as a reduction in performance, and efficiency, a higher
rate of errors and injuries as well as the substandard quality of work.

Signs of fatigue
There are several signs of how fatigue takes place but some of more
dominating as under.

➢ Feeling tired even after sleeping.


➢ Reduction in hand-eye integration.
➢ Slow responses.
➢ Short-term mental problems like memory loss.
➢ Not being able to concentrate properly.
➢ Fuzzy vision or tainted perception.
➢ Requires excessive sleep during work time etc.

Risks associated with fatigue and procedures for managing the risk of fatigue.

Usually, fatigue increases the risk of accidents because the fatigue-person


lacks an alerted mindset and attention. Similarly, an individual with this
condition might damage itself or its surroundings due to its imbalanced
actions. Moreover, it also leads to a dwindling reaction to situations or signals
and impacts the capacity to formulate effective decisions particularly when
undertaking high-level tasks that require a critical and high-level thinking
mindset and concertation.
From the situation at the workplace, it is evident that some of the employees
of Grow Management Consultant are working for longer-hours and even work
at weekends. Therefore, complaints about being fatigued being received
concerning those workers. Similarly, it is also observed that excessive
company projects also require long-traveling frequently of workers which also
causes fatigue in employee’s mental and physical health.
The company needs to adopt the following ways to reduce or avoid fatigue in
its workers.
- Identify and recognize the factors triggering fatigue.
- Developing and implementing control measures.
- Train employees mentally and physically on fatigue and stress.
- Provide employees entertainment and a flexible working schedule so that
they can get relaxed and refreshed.
- Motivate employees through recognition and rewards of the high-performance
exhibition.

Proposed strategies for managing fatigue and relationship to hierarchy of control


The following are some of the key strategies to manage and reduce fatigue
within the Grow Management Consultant.
Identification of Factors triggering fatigue:
- Consulting workers- asking the manager, the supervisor as well as
health and safety officers to discuss the effects of working schedules
and workload experiences.

- Assessing work traditions- examining workplace practices, norms,


culture by looking into employee’s track record, timesheet, including
working systems.
- Identifying, tracking, monitoring, and revising HR and workplace
accident data to recognize patterns.
Implementation of control procedures for controlling fatigue threats:
- Designing policies for flexible work schedules.
- Developing shift work and rosters for workers.
- Ensuring hygienic and an ethical workplace environment.
Educating and training employees on fatigue management:
- Educating employees on fatigue-related factors and aspects and make sure
they get proper knowledge of it.
- Develop fatigue management policy and make sure it is accessible to all
members.

Safe work Australia is a governmental statutory body founded in 2008 to
formulate policies and procedures for WHS as well as employee
compensation.
Employsure
This platform is considered the largest employment provider and worker's
health and safety services provider within Australia.
Foundations of expert advice might be needed if further information is
required:

Work Safe Victoria: it plays an important role in the lives of Victorian


managers and employees - as the state’s health and safety regulator
and as the manager of Victoria’s worker's compensation scheme.
Integrated Safety Support: it is an Australian organization that offers
fatigue training and investigation, data analytics, fatigue management
systems, and fatigue risk valuation.
