Academic Conference
An academic conference often has concurrent sessions in which a speaker or a small panel presents
findings to the audience. Attendees will choose which sessions to go to based on their own professional
interests. Networking events allow attendees to meet fellow professionals in their field, trade contact
details, and discuss their work more informally.

Trade Show / Professional Conference
Trade shows and industrial conferences often have expo show floors, where vendors and related service
professionals will demonstrate new products at tables and booths. Clients will sometimes attend as well,
to see new products and services and meet with all their suppliers in one room. Trade shows also may
have discussion panels, where leaders in the profession have a public conversation on an industry topic.
Frequently, there will be a networking event in the evening.

Fan Conference
Fan conferences, like trade shows, will often have a show floor, where fans can meet industry
professionals, get autographs, purchase merchandise, and ask questions. Similarly, there are often panel
discussions that focus on aspects of a topic for the general public. Keynote speakers are usually major
figures who talk about their experiences to the fandom.
