D.2 Transmission
Error codes transmission
Error codes for t he transmission are sorted in numerical order. The
table contains the following information:
• SPN - Speci es component , SPN is the error code as it is shown in
the machine, in accordance with SAE J1939.
• FMI - Speci es type of fault, see Table Speci cations FMI, page
D:8.
• Supplier code - Speci es the error code in accordance wit h the
supplier's speci cation.
• Supplier code 2 - States the error code in accordance with the
supplier's speci cation in alternative format.
• Description - Gives a description of the error code as well as
any limitation that may arise in the machine for the error code in
question.
• Action - Speci es recommended action in summarised form with
the troubleshooting act ion that should be taken rst.
• Connection and component - Speci es component number and
connect or pin on the control unit and component for additional
troubleshooting with the wiring diagram.
• Diagnostic menu - Speci es which diagnostic menu can be used to
show the signal in the display's diagnostic menus.
In the event of serious fault s in the transmission the control unit

uses four conditions with reduced funct ionality in order to protect the
transmission from damage. These are:
• "Substitute clutch control"
In this mode the operator can use the machine as usual. However,
gear shift ing and change of direction is not under the control of
normal modulation. The control unit uses the default values for
the modulation of the clutches.
• "Limp home"
In this mode, the operator can use one of the transmission gears
in each direct ion, and in some cases only in one direction. To
continue to drive in the event of a f ault with the "Limp home"
restrict ion, the machine must be stopped to a st andstill and the gear
selector moved to neutral before the gear can be selected again.
• "Transmission shut down"
In this mode, the transmission is permanently in neutral as the
solenoid valves for the clutches and parts of t he power supply to
the transmission are shut off. Park the machine and switch off
the engine.
