Do you like listening to English song? We can learn English language by song, so try to like it.
A song is a short piece of music. The words of a song are called lyrics.
The Structures of a song consists of:
1) intro or introduction. Intro is an opening section of a piece of song. Intro opens a movement.
2) Verse. Verse is the main part of a song. It is the part of the song that tells a story. It is the
longer sentences. It functions to give listeners more insight leading to the main message of the
song and it moves the story.
3) Chorus. It is a part of the song that is repeated after a verse. It is the part of a song that often
sticks to the mind of a listener because it contrasts with the verse.
4) Bridge. Bridge is a secondary verse which is different from the primary one. It is usually appears
once or twice in a song. It should offer a reasson why the final chorus needs to be repeated.
Each song has own theme. There are some themes of song, as the followings:
love
friendship
family
life
1) Rhyme; it is identity in sound of some part, especially the end of words, or lines of verse. In
other words, rhyme is a repetition of similar sound. The rhyme scheme can be AB-AB-AA-BB.
For example:
I saw two shooting stars last night
I wished on them but they were only satelites.
2) Informal Language;
For example:
ain’t = has not/ have not
gimme= give me
gonna= going to
gotta= (have) got a
kinda= kind of
lemme= let me
wanna= want to
whatcha= what are you
3) Figures of speech (majas). Figures of speech are figurative languages are ways of describing or
explaining things in a non-literal or non-traditional way. They are:
Metaphor (describing something by likening it to something else), dalam bahasa
Indonesia artinya perumpaan
e.g: He is the black sheep of the family.
Hyperbole (melbih lebihkan)
e.g. She is starving (kelaparan)
simile (majas perbandingn)
e.g. He is as brave as a lion.
personification
euphemism
5. Evaluasi
1) Tugas yang dikumpulkan ada pada bagian evaluasi dan refleksi.
2) Temukan English song yang kamu sukai dan analisis isinya.

1) Apa yang telah kita pelajari hari ini?
2) Tuliskan 2 hal manfaat dari materi yang kita pelajari hari ini.
3) Tuliskan 1 hal yang akan kamu lakukan setelah mengetahui kedua manfaat tersebut.
