It is a challenge for all parents the advancing technology on how their children

lives willcope up with the problems and issues that technology is facing today. The

technological era changes through the years the traditional playmates of children seem to

be forgotten of 21st century children. Parenting has not escaped those challenges that

accompany the ever-changing technological world.

Technology has become an important part of people in daily living. Technology is

the branch of knowledge that deals with the creation and use of technical means and their

interrelation with life, society, and the environment, drawing upon such subjects as

industrial arts, engineering, applied science, and pure science.It has been integrated into

the educational process over and over again throughout the years and has given newer

and better tools to help facilitate learning.

The world depends on technology and everyone from young to the old seems to

be deeply involved. Technology has become one of the most important elements in

today’s societies and its role in our lives keeps getting complex. It is impacted to all

sectors of the society and even helped to increase efficiency and effectiveness. However,

some people also say that it induces laziness and can cause people to focus more on the

fun side of technology instead of working and using one’s time well. The integration of

technology innovations into different facets of the lives has indeed helped to transform

the world and to improve efficiency in almost everything.

Today’s technology hasmore powerful impacts on children’s lives. The best

playmate of children nowadays is the thing called technology. The most common

technologies used by children are the video games, computers, tablets, internet, social

networks, chatting services, calculators and much more. The technological era has been

making the lives easier that children become quite dependent on it.There’s no denying

that technology has enhanced in many ways, however it is also brings out with a certain

problems and challenges for children.It is changing the way of children live, influencing

the way they behave, altering the way they think and socialize with others. Today’s
children use more technology compared to kids in 1990. Many technological companies

are inventing technological tools for kids.

The generation changes through the years,before, the traditional playmates of kids

are used to play outside, riding bike cycles, playing sports and building forts. They

masters of imaginary games, children of the past created their own form of play that

didn't require costly equipment or parental supervision. Before children are most lively

person and their sensory world was simple nature based.Playing traditional games are

engaging the children to explore and to have fun naturally. There are significantly

changes when technological innovationsenforced in the life of children.

Children’s now living in the modern world, technology becomes their best

playmates and friends.Children greatly rely on the technical devices. They take their cell

phones, laptops and other digital devices whenever and wherever they go. They spend

heaps of their precious time dealing with their advanced “toys”.Children live today don’t

get as much exercise as they used to. This is because technology encourages them to be

sedentary when they get home from school, as opposed to going outside and playing with

other kids.Children can access any kind of information whenever and from wherever they

may need it. This has made learning easy taking out the need to go to a library to get a

book and clear doubts.

A global society that is interconnected as never before. Relying on technology for

the majority of their pleasure of playing, extremely limiting challenges to their creativity

and imaginations, and as well as limiting necessary challenges to their bodies to achieve

optimal sensory and motor development. The differences that have been most noticeable

are the change in the way that children play and interact with each other from previous

generations. Although technology does provide many positive benefits for learning, it

also can have several negative effects on child development and the quality of life.

Children's developing sensory, motor, and attachment systems have biologically

not evolved to accommodate this sedentary, yet wild and confused nature of today's

technology.The impact of rapidly advancing technology on the developing of child has

seen an increase of physical, psychological and behaviour disorders that the health and

education systems are just beginning to detect, much less understand.

As children continue to become more immersed in media, many adults have

begun to wonder whether or not this exposure to such a high amount of electronic media

is a good thing or not. On the pro side, there is an argument that technology is preparing

children for the ‘real world’ that they will have to enter into. Sixty percent of jobs in the

market are technology related, and children need the tech advantage to be successful in

such an environment. On the other hand, others argue that children using technology are

becoming socially stunted, ungrateful, and ridden with health related issues.

For child's play, newness and technology don't necessarily represent progress or

improvement. A child playing alone with a smart device is functioning almost entirely in

a virtual world with limited real social interaction. They aren't sharing their experiences

or learning from others. Reliance on technology at playtime also reduces the amount of

interaction between parent and child, which can have a negative effect on both. The rise

of new technology can be a hindrance in the relationship of parents and children.

Technology is not really a culprit if we use it wisely and it also uses to solve the

problems. The present study was undertaken with the following objectives. The main

purpose of this study is to analyse the current state of technology and its impact on the

children. The aim is to find out how and why children are getting addicted in using

technology. The objective is to study the parents and teachers view on technology and

their opinion on how technology affects children positively or negatively.

As the trend of gadgets and application is increasing in children, it is very

important to find out the best way to use these and prevent children from abusing

technologies. The study will also include observation of the technique used by the parents

and teachers. An overall goal of this study is to identify the major impacts of technology
to a young child. In order to fulfil the aims and objectives of this study there is a need to

define a number of issues concerning the use of technology.

As we know that technology is one of the playmates of today’s kids. This study

was conducted primarily on determining the possible challenges or impact when children

engaged in too much using of technology. The study included the positive and negative

effects of technology. This research aims to know how technology can bring to us, the

possible diseases that children can get using technology, how technology is changing the

way of children think and focus, and how it can affect in child’s behaviour. It also

covered the challenges encountered by a parents and teachers in developing the children

skills with technology.In these problems, we need to find alternative solutions.

The present study was undertaken with the following objectives. This study will

address the impact of technology in children. It is important to find out the best way to

use technology and prevent children from abusing it. They will be more aware of the

possible reasons why children are getting addicted in technology. We must study the

effects of technology to know what more can offer it to us. Our aim is to guide the

parents on how to use technology and also limits children on specific technological tools.

The study was limited to forty (40) teachers and sixty (60) parents of ………. for

Academic Year 2018- 2019. Further delimitations were other problems not raised in he

study. The study was limited only to corresponding responses by teachers and parents to

the researcher constructed questionnaire.

The two sets of survey questionnaire checklist were utilized in gathering data. The

contents however were quite similar to each other since the research concerned all the

two group of respondents.

The researchers believed that an investigation of the impact of technology on

today’s kids can truly deserves some serious considerations. The importance of focusing
on the effects of technology should be concerned with. It is therefore hoped that the

results of this study would not be beneficial to the parents but also to the teachers.

To the parents, this study will serve them to know what will happen to their

children if they continue or worst getting addicted in using technology. To guide their

children on how to use any kind of technology and also limits on when to use specific

technological tools.

To the teachers, this study can help in teaching or informing students that

technology has a possible effect whether it is positive or negative. It is no longer

sufficient for the teachers to transfers knowledge but to critically educate them to the

importance of technology.

To the future parents, this study was also used for the sake of their task and

responsibilities they may encounter in their future when they are raising their own family.

Through this study technological devices may gain insights on how to enhance the way of

using it. It may also be a great help to them in improving their parental strategy.

Lastly, to the future researcher, this paper will surely contribute to our rich bulk of

literature and body of knowledge. It can be a basis for them if they want to continue and

add information for this study and also be a guide to enrich their own study or as

reference materials.Future researchers especially those who will conduct study on the

same or similar framework will gain insights from the substance of investigation.
