Inside Out

This is a Disney film and it is talking about five emotions: Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear
and Disgust, which live in the mind of a girl who is 11 years old and named Riley.
Riley and her family move from Minnesota to San Francisco and it is not easy for her
to adapt to the new environment. This story talks about how these five emotion in the
mind of Riley to help her overcomes the difficulties that she faces.

I think that this is a touching story and I feel warm after I watched this film. Riley is
a cheerful girl when she is living in her old home but she has some quarrels with her
parent after she moves to her new home. She misses her old friends, the country she
has lived and the happy memories of her and her family. Her emotions, Joy and
Sadness face problem in her mind and it prompts Riley doesn’t know how to deal
with her feeling and the quarrel with her parent.

Sometimes we will have quarrel with our family or our friends just like Riley and
can’t control our emotion well and anger will control our mind it makes us can’t speak
and think calmly. At that moment, we need to have more communication with our
family and friends and solve the problems together. We also need to learn that how to
control our emotion well and calm down. It is wrong to be joyful all the time,
sometimes sadness can also help us to find out what is the problem. Joy is came from
sadness, every emotions has their reasons to be in our mind, everyone of them can
help us to grow up.

I want to respond to the question that choose a character and describe her change as
the story unfolds. I choose to describe the change of the emotion, Joy. At the
beginning of the story, she is the leader of the five emotions and thinks that happy is
the most important feeling in the mind of Riley. Joy doesn’t allow Sadness to take
control of Riley’ s mind as she thinks that sadness will bring negative impacts to the
life of Riley. Yet, Joy understands that she is wrong in the late period of the story. Joy
watches the important memory of Riley which is a joyful memory with her friends.
However, Joy finds out that this joyful memory is came from a sad memory which is
about Riley lost in the race of ice hockey. Riley gets lost in the race and she talks with
her parents, finally she realizes that the process is the most important but not the
result. At the end, Riley becomes joyful again and has a joyful memory with her
friends. Joy understands that every emotion, includes Sadness, can bring positive
impacts to the growth of Riley, not only joy. At the end of the story, Joy control Riley’
s mind with the other five emotions and help Riley to get on well with her family
again.
