“I CHOOSE TO BECOME A NURSE, AND I CHOOSE TO DEDICATE MYSELF TO

TAKE CARE OF OTHERS”

Before I make an essay about in difference between Nurse Manager and Nurse
Leadership. I need have to read about them for me to able understand between them.

According to research Nurse manager is someone who has decision-making powers and
control over certain processes in an organization. They are responsible for long-term planning
and teaming up with the Physicians and others. Nurse manager plays an important role in patient
care is because it is known to be the most difficult position. As a nurse manager, one must deal
with patient care issues, relationships with medical staff, staff concerns, as well as maintaining
work-life balance. While the role might not be direct patient care like bedside nurse whereas the
Nurse Leadership, they focus on a patient quality of care and safety but a higher level, leading
teams of managers and RNs. A nursing leader on his part has the role of influencing changes in
an organization, especially in a particular unit or area of specialization, towards obtaining desired
results. Their aim to advance the mission and vision for their respective healthcare organizations.
They may develop polices for their facilities, ensuring that their facilities comply with existing
regulations and implement new mandates, and advancing organizational change. There are many
examples that display a great sense of leadership such being an educator in health, a parent to
their child, or even a nurse. They might not have supervisory or management duties, but they
help direct groups in ways that make them function better. Nurse Manager and Nurse Leaders are
both crucial in their profession, the two nursing roles that emphasize leadership. Both deeply
involved with healthcare facility’s high-level operations. And as I read more from articles, Nurse
leaders are typically less task-oriented than a nurse-managers. Their responsibilities focus on a
healthcare facilities on a long-term vision.

Still many people fail to identify between them because the relationship between
leadership and management continues to prompt some debate, because both Nurse manager and
Nurse leader share similar characteristics, and they also excel at decision making and delegating
duties, so it’s clearly both of them need in Nursing Profession.

To me, nursing is truly the right profession. It’s a calling, for I believe that I am more
than suited to become a nurse. When I’m finish my course, and become a Nurse I want to work
directly on patient care needs because it is important for us, nurses to develop our potential
leaders as well as effective leadership styles and characteristics. As one wise man said, “Nursing
is a profession where the need to understand your patient outweighs your need to be understood”.
I want help people who cannot help themselves. This is why it is my belief that a nurse has to be
not only perseverant, but also determined, strong-willed, and very thoughtful of others’
sufferings.

And especially today that we are facing the emergence of virus disease that nurses need to
respond rapidly and use to underpin effective leadership in a crisis, emphasizing the importance
of decision-making and emotional intelligence. A nurse is much more than just a person whose
job is to take care of the ill. A nurse is a kind person, someone who puts the patients’ needs first
and delivers health care in a professional and kind way.

Generally, all nurses need to be leaders by default, with appropriate qualities of effective
performance. And not to mention, I will be also grateful if I’ve become a Nurse manager if that’s
a will of God. A nurse-manager can also become nurse leader at the same time. And maybe
when I’m well experienced and ready enough to take a bigger position and that’s a pleasure of
mine. At the end of the day, the well-being of the person I am caring for is what matters, and I
will do whatever in power to help people in needs. I know this is the path I choose and I will
always be proud of it.
