Annual Academic Report – 2018-2019
Good afternoon to one and all. This is the annual report of the Association of Chemical Engineers for the academic year 2018-2019 presented by Sudarshan G, President of Association of Chemical Engineers. The inauguration of the ACE held in the month of September and Mr Francis Arulanandam HOD of Health and Safety Engineering, of Petrofac Engineering Services was the chief guest. On to the technical symposium, in Invente, a total of 59 abstracts were presented in poster and paper presentation, the central theme being sustainability and environmental engineering. This was followed by the annual conference STEER organized by the IIChE student chapter, in which a total of 48 papers were presented. The IIChE - SSN Student Chapter also bagged the second prize in Ambuja's Best Student Chapter Award (from 150 student chapters all across the country) awarded in CHEMCON 2019. Students have also done both academic and industrial interns in various international and national institutions such as Stanford University, Max Planck Institute, Lancaster University, Hiyoshi International and IIT’s having received funding and fellowships from organizations like CCP5 and SURGE enabling them to publish research and review papers in high impact journals like Elsevier: JCP, Bioresource Technology, SAJCE, IET: Nanobiotechnology, De Gruyter: JCRE. Now on to students pursuing higher studies more than 50 % of the students who had applied have received admits from prestigious institutions such as Stanford University, Cornell University, National University of Singapore, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Technical University of Munich to name a few. Onto placements ,85% of the students who had applied for placements have been placed, in top notch companies, including core MNC’s such as Saint Gobain, Technip FMC, Wood -Amec Foster Wheeler and many more, in various disciplines ranging from industrial design to manufacturing and production. Finally, I would like to extend my gratitude to the president, principal, HOD and all the faculty members for their unwavering support in all endeavours of students.
