Significance of the Study

The findings of this study are beneficial to the following:

Administrators. They will be able to understand that the social media can help

to inform the netizens on the updates during this pandemic.

 Teachers. This study would be useful to the teachers to have knowledge about

the increased social media usage by the students during this pandemic, since there is

no face to face classes, and social media is their way to communicate with their

students.

Students. They will be able to understand and provide some knowledge on

factors that in this pandemic social media plays an important role. It also gives students

their responsibility as a user of social media to share some valid information about the

new updates. In this study students can be aware of things and have time management,

since they are in blended learning.

Netizens. They will also understand and have knowledge about why social

media exposure is increasing during the community quarantine and this would help

them to know the possible effects.

Future Researchers. With this findings of this research, future researchers will

serve this as a guide on their research and as a reference for their further analysis.

Operational Definition of Terms

The following will help to understand the key terms that being used in the study:

Community Quarantine. In this study, Community Quarantine is described as

the “lockdown” in which they would put into action measures to restrict the movement of

people going in and out of the city.

Computer-mediated communication (CMC). As described in this research,

computer-mediated communication is a human interaction that takes place using two or

more online technologies. Although the term has historically referred to such

communication processes that arise in computers, and this has been expanded to other

forms of text-based communications, such as social networking.

COVID 19. In this study, COVID-19 or Coronavirus is characterized as infectious

disease and affects day to day life and slows down the global economy. A person

afflicted with COVID – 19 virus may experience moderate to extreme respiratory

illnesses, which may lead to serious health complications and worst death.
