REFLECTION PAPER

The story of Dr. Jose Rizal isn’t a stranger any Filipino after all he is our National
Hero. When I was in elementary we studied some stories about him, and during Grade
9 and 10 we studied about his two most famous novels Noli me Tangere and El
Filibusterismu. When I finished high school I thought that it was the last time that I would
encounter his name but with the new law the Republic Act 1425, Universities are now
required to offer subjects about The life and Works of Dr. Jose Rizal.

The Republic act 1425 for me is a good thing to have because it will not only broaden
our knowledge about his works but will also bring us things to know about his life. Some
may find it boring especeially when talking about history and remembering names,
places and events in the past that are needed to be remember but I think that adding
these law is interesting because it does not only talk about Rizal’s two most well-known
novels but they added his other creations too. Today lots of people doesn’t know much
about him, yes they know him as our hero, but nothing much. This law will not only
refresh our knowledge about the history of the Philippines but will also let us remember
and Honor the sacrifices that Rizal along with the other Heroes and fellow Filipinos did
for us in the past in order for us to have the freedom that we are experiencing today.
